Eric Bana is Elvis in "Elvis and Nixon"Submit Comment
Eric Bana has signed on to play Elvis Presley and Danny Huston (X-Men Origins Wolverine) is in talks to play President Richard Nixon in "Elvis and Nixon," which will be directed by actor Cary Elwes (Saw), who will be making his helming debut.

The movie centers on a December 21st, 1970 visit that Presley paid to Nixon at the White House. The meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a "Federal Agent-at-Large" in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Presley brought with him family photos and a Colt 45 pistol as a personal gift to the president.

Elwes wrote the screenplay along with Joey and Hanala Sagal. The movie, which will shoot in Shreveport, La., and Los Angeles.

the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. I wonder why Elvis Presley would want to get involved in narcotics and dangerous drugs?? HMMM coincidence? I think not!

@Cinema:

Especially when Elvis died of drug overdose ! Among other durgs, Elvis used to take his injections with his hamburger & fries at 3:00 am everdyday !

Now, the story isn't sufficient to make a movie about that and IF it will be played, what on earth do you pick an aussie for the role ?

Elvis was wanting to spy on all his subversive dope-smoking musical and Hollywood hippy friends.

He secretly fantasized of being a big fat hairy NARC that would've gladly helped the U.S. government put away the Beatles and anyone else that dared to smoke half a joint.

And he was hoping that maybe...just possibly Nixon would give him the chance to properly betray 90% of his friends, peers, and any other person in the world that made the mistake of doing something in front of him that might possibly be construed as counter-culture.

Yep in Elvis' mind drugs prescribed by a doctor were perfectly kosher, even if it meant getting injected multiple times in a day with something random drug of the day that he nicknamed "Happiness"...to him it was very different and allowable.

Illegal drugs like marijuana? That stuff was f*cking up America according to the King.

Elvis Presley great singer, one of a kind entertainer. A true legend. But he was also dumb as sh*t.

A f*cking idiot that was giving Colonel Tom Parker 50% of everything he made for the vast majority of his career.
