Universal Pictures is moving forward with a "Battlestar Galactica" film , based on Glen Larson's 1978 TV series. The studio now in talks with John Orloff (Anonymous, A Mighty Heart) to write the script. Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) is attached to direct.

"I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old, and built a 'Galactica' model from scratch out of balsa wood, cardboard, old model parts and LEDs," said Orloff. "I love BSG, and I would pass on the job rather than frak it up."

The original "Battlestar Galactica" focused on the last of a space traveling group of humans who survived a lethal surprise attack and, in one remaining warship and a ragtag group of ships, tries to navigate their way to Earth. The series was remade in 2004. Both had a big fan base.

This Kid needs to stop directing movies. He's just no good.

They will never be better than the original movies so why bother.

the 2004 series did not have a big fan base, hence it's cancellation..well, that and sh*tty stories

The 2004 series wasn't cancelled due to bad ratings. The creators had a planned ending to the show.

True. They made it a 5-year story. They copied that formula from Babylon 5. Both series did an excellent job (B5 is still my fav. series).

Bryan Singer broke my heart when he abandoned X-Men 3 to Brett Ratner.

I'll never trust him again.
