Brad Pitt in Talks for "Groundhog Day"-Style "All You Need is Kill" Action FilmSubmit Comment
About a year ago, Warner Bros brought on Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) to direct a "Groundhog Day"-style time-travel action film called "All You Need is Kill," based on the 2004 Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.

NY Mag has now learned that the studio has offered the lead role to Brad Pitt, reuniting the actor with Liman after working together on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

Story centers on a new recruit in a war against aliens who finds himself caught in a time loop in which he wakes up in the past after having been killed on the battlefield. As the soldier's death and resurrection repeat, his skills as a soldier grows as he attempts to change his fate.

I think they already made that movie and it's called Source Code.

Groundhog Day style action film? Yeah Souce Code comes to mind, and so does 12 Monkeys, Deja Vu, Vantage Point, and Time Cop. Hollywood is repeating itself just like the plots of these films, but unlike Brad Pitt's character they're not getting better with each new opportunity.

Does every script in Hwood come with the instructions "JUST ADD ALIENS"?

Maybe Paul on here will read only the first line: 'About a year ago...' and go into another rant of all things that happened a year ago.

f*cking moron.

There are so many 'celebs' and celeb show and news, I almost don't think Pitt will get the credit he deserves for the powerhouse he is in Hollyweird. The man makes $'s faster than the US can print it. He does a PILE of charitable donating, he's in all the big projects. He seems to pick good stuff, or make OK stuff better. He's acted along all the biggies of the biz. Yet despite his public life seems to stay under the radar. He's not coming out of all the popular LA restaurants hoping TMZ will catch him for a chat. I like the guy and what he's doing. I like it he had the balls to dump Ms. Boring, kick her to the curb and go after the woman he wanted. He's livin' it large (like Paul's mother is when I'm in her ass).

Pitt is one of the only respectable Hollywood Stars out there.

Seems like a pretty cool dude. I mean, who else (Hollywood-wise) would join jackass for one show and disguise himself as a monkey and hit Steve-0 with a kart ?

He's livin large like when my d*ck is in pauls' momz ass LMFAO. I became a fan of Pitt in 12Monkeys. Killem from saturday night live does Pitt doin the weather, fkn funny

12 Monkeys did see Pitt at his best. Even 'Snatch'... and other's... Meet Joe Black. The man truly goes to his character's core. Even that Burn after Reading (or whatever the hell it was called), he playing a simpleton (like Paul), he was brilliant (whereas Paul is just simple).

Read the book it was awesome and i dont think Groundhog day had Mechs in it trust me i think this movie will be a good summer block buster

@Ranger: Meet Joe Black really? Easily Pitts lamest role. Bored me half to tears. His Jesse James role is by far his best recent performance, and yet its the one people notice the least.
Ranger writes:

He was emotionless Angel of Death in Meet Joe Black. We could make comparisons on anyone's performances all day long... I wasn't. As a stand-alone performance... all of Brad's are good. I like Jesse James too, but that's apples to oranges.
