"Scarface" Remake in Development

Posted: September 22nd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Scarface" Remake in DevelopmentSubmit Comment
Universal Pictures is developing another version of "Scarface," which was first released in 1932 and then turned into the iconic Al Pacino film in 1983. The studio is now meeting with writers.

The film will be a remake, but will have very little to do with the first two films, except the title and general premise, which revolves around an immigrant who forces his way into the criminal establishment in pursuit of a twisted version of the American dream.

Universal is hoping to make a "Scarface" film for the new generation. It's not worried about the backlash, because it already experienced plenty of backlash when it remade the 1932 version, which was considered a classic. And the result was another classic, one that has become part of popular culture and incredibly lucrative for the studio, selling over 10 million DVD units worldwide.

plutohiller writes:

That's good cause Al Pacinos scarface was so terrible.....psych! I just bought the blu-ray and it's still amazing as it was in 83. With this, Avatar the ride, and the crew member getting fired for slapping Minkas ass, how much more bad news could there be? Scrap the remake, obliterate the world of blue people in Avatar, and get that guy behind the camera of Charlie's Angels.
PaulX7 writes:

@plutohiller - "Al Pacinos scarface was so terrible.."

"Terrible"??? To me, Scarface is one of the best gangster/drug lord movies ever. Not a wrinkle in almost 30 years! Good luck to the idiots who have the arrogance to believe they can remake such classic!

What a travesty! They have the audacity to reboot Pacino's scarface? Nothing is sacred anymore in hollywood.
Batmanfan writes:

@technoreaper

Are you f*cking retarded! No one will EVER be able to do what that film did. Oliver Stone writing, De Palma directing an the GREAT Al Pacino creating the greatest gangster movie of all time. A remake would be a Goddamn abortion!

Universal Pictures making a huge risk, I mean the first Scarface was made in 1932 and was considered a classic then the remake of Scarface was made in 1983, resulting a classic movie and a famous role made by Al Panico.

Now Universal Pictures wants to make a third remake of Scarface for a new gerenation?

Come on, how long will it be when all 80's classic movies are remaked for a new gerenation that might not watch those remakes because the audience are not intreseted or don't like the idea of remakes.

Is Hollywood that stupid not to notice that there are plenty of novels and video games that are great and can be turn into movies.

Instead of remaking a classic, the studios should make a movie adaption of Call Of Duty, Assissain Creed, Halo etc.

What's next? The remakes of E.T. and The Gonnies, I hope not.

Those classic movies are my memerioes of childhood.

The studio dare not to touch those movies or even a idea of a sequel.

@Paul - maybe you should try reading entire posts. Plutohiller was being 'sarcastic' (Google it). He went on to say '... psych!' (Google it). So yeah, maybe read through entire posts before you post with an emotional response.

@Batmanfan - if you're on here long enough, you'll learn that technorapevictim only posts on here to go against the grain. He's looking for attention his whoring mother won't give him because she's too busy servicing drunken guys from his step-dad's bowling team.

Meh. I know I'm in the minority here, but I wasn't too crazy about the Scarface remake, except the ending.

That being said, I enjoyed the 1932 version, except the ending. If somehow the original could have the remake's ending. Time to get Jay Sherman's boss' invention!

Okay I just got through defending some of the latest reboots and remakes to classics like Planet of the Apes and Fright Night, but defending this is next to impossible. Hwood has already copied and cloned the film many times over. Making an actual remake even sounds lazier than usual. No one can match Pacino's Tony Montana....NO ONE!!! I fear for the actor that tries.

Carlito's Way was more like if Tony hadn't of died at the end of the movie but went to prison instead, Well kind of ....

Bloody good film though, Penn was outstanding

@Ranger - "@Paul - maybe you should try reading entire posts. Plutohiller was being 'sarcastic' (Google it). He went on to say '... psych!' (Google it). So yeah, maybe read through entire posts before you post with an emotional response."
What a negative comment from ranger who made me realise what a douche he is. Go on, keep on insulting me if that make you feel more of a man than a douche who's been f*cking his mother and grandmother since he was born. I won't waste my time looking at your posts anyway, but please keep on insulting me if that gives you a hard on...
Ranger writes:

@Paul - I never realized you were this illogical, a jumper of conclusions and emotional... and really, you're quite obtuse. Your opinion of me matters a lot less than my consideration that your mother's rapist wasted his c*m in her.

Ranger writes:

It figures you'd quote French. A country that has either lost every conflict and needed it's ungrateful, pretentious ass bailed out, or started a fight and got their ass kicked repeatedly. A pathetic facade of superiority. But posturing is what losers like do, right Paul? Next time read a person's FULL post before commenting or shut your c*cksucker.
