Ridley Scott's "Monopoly" Hires "1408" Writers

We recently reported that Universal Pictures decided not to move forward with a "Monopoly" film that has Ridley Scott (Alien) attached to direct.

But Hasbro and Scott are still interested in pushing forward and have now hired Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, 1408, People vs Larry Flint) to write the script. It has already been revealed that the story will not be similar to "Wall Street."

"Monopoly," which is about gaining market dominance via real estate and utilities, was one of the projects on which Universal and Hasbro partnered in 2008 to bring to the big-screen. It was also one of the projects dropped in recent months as Universal realigned its focus.

"Ouija" and "Clue" were also dropped, but are still in active development. Hasbro is funding all the projects.

I bet every *sshole in hollywood is going to be fighting over who gets to play the car. My vote's for Tom Cruise.

Hopefully the movie won't last eight hours like the game.

hollywood should time travel back to the 80s and 90s when movies were better...i just watched that movie 'legend' with tom cruise and tim curry, why can't we get more well thought out films like that with awesome soundtracks by the way?
synthetic1985 writes:

speaking of legend, since hollywood has a bad reputation of ruining games to movies, legend always seemed like a live action movie of zelda, and honestly could use legend as a reference to follow zelda better than if hollywood made a movie out of it today

If this movie would copy Wall Street 2, then whats the point of making Monopoly? Stupid *ssholes....

Whens "Snap! The movie" out? Before or after Battle LA 2, I mean Battleships.
synthetic1985 writes:

@supersweetguy the only difference this movie would have over wall street 2 is no shia labouf...no guarantee of it being better still...let hollywood do their worst, nothing lasts forever, and already i'm pleased that they dropped clue and ouija...some things just aren't meant to be made into movies...whatever, learn it the hard way if you must hollywood
