Universal Drops Michael Bay's "Ouija" Board Game Movie

Posted: August 24th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Universal Drops Michael BaySubmit Comment
Just three weeks ago, Universal Pictures decided to pull the plug on the big screen adaptation of Hasbro's "Clue" board game. And now, the studio has done the same with "Ouija" game, which was to be produced by Michael Bay and directed by McG (Terminator Salvation).

Bay and McG are now meeting with other studios to see if there is any interest in the property. But even Paramount Pictures, which developed Hasbro's "Transformers" into a film, passed on "Ouija." At this point, it's not impossible for the film to still happen. If another studio were to come aboard, Universal may be willing to stay on as a co-financier.

So what's the reason for dropping all these Hasbro properties? It all comes down to money and Universal can't justify the big budgets, especially when it's already developing "Stretch Armstrong" and "Battleship." And both of those films are not generating the kind of buzz the studio was hoping.

It was in the tarot cards that this wouldn't happen.

So I guess Bay has lost his golden touch then.

Yes! There is a Satan! Now to sacrifice a goat and hope the Crow remake gets cancelled.

"Stretch Armstrong" and "Battleship" are not generating good buzz? Who would've guessed that?

Michael Bay is a sh*tty director. Battleship will prove making game boards into movies is still a stupid idea.

what do they consider buzz? cuz therz all kinds of bad buzz about all these hack remakes but the movie molesters follow thru with them anyway. so they consider any kind of buzz good buzz?! buzz my ballz hollywood, i'd rather see a bad original movie than a piece sh*t remake/sequel

Pay me Hollywood. i got tons of movie ideas.
Lets see we have Connect 4, Trouble, Sorry, Chutes and Ladders. Then there's the ones that will def get Cannes nods - Boggle, & Parcheesi.
We can wrap up with a Xmas debut of Uno. A shoe in for an Oscar

@tt and Dave - I banged this pregnant chick so hard, her kid was born wearing an eye patch!

As for this idea being dropped... praise Jesus! Keep this common sense streak rolling Hollyweird!

I'm not sure why anyone ever thought Battleship or Stretch Armstrong would generate buzz. Of all the board game films planned, Ouija has the most potential, but of course they'd squander any potential by keeping it safe for kids and christians.

I still donīt know why they call themselves Universal Studios, man.... They pass two greatest future projects (In the Mountain of Madness and Ther Dark Tower franchise) instead of making sh*tty movies..... They should call themselves Independent or something else. That name of "Universal" doesnīt fit anymore to them..... Them maybe just maybe they can make the movies that fit to their sh*tty brand.....

Awwww... Just think of all the 360 degree slow pans around the board shots that he won't get to do now.
