"Rambo 5" Script is Written, Stallone May Return

"Rambo 5" Script is Written, Stallone May ReturnSubmit Comment
After the fourth "Rambo" movie, Sylvester Stallone expressed interest in moving forward with the fifth installment. He then killed the project, claiming that he was happy with the way the franchise ended.

But in an interview with Fearnet, "Conan the Barbarian" writer Sean Hood revealed that he met with Stallone several times over the course of the last twelve months in order to work on "Rambo 5."

"I recently finished a first draft of 'Rambo: Last Stand' for Millennium films, based on a story idea by Sylvester Stallone," he explained. "Hopefully, Mr. Stallone will eventually have the time and the inclination to do another 'Rambo.'"

Hood then spoke to Empire, stating: "I met with Mr. Stallone twice last year. He gave me a book, an older screenplay, and about twenty pages hed written himself to use as inspiration for the last chapter of the 'Rambo' saga."

Hood didn't reveal which book Stallone gave him, but said that the current script is not based on the "Savage Hunt" or the Mexican drug cartel story that Stallone previously mentioned.

"It's more in line with the small-town thriller of 'First Blood,'" said the writer. "As of now, I don't know whether Mr. Stallone will actually do it. Right now, as I understand it, he has his hands full with 'Bullet to the Head' and 'Expendables 2.' But Millennium films did hire me to complete the screenplay and realize his story, and my hope is that he'll eventually be inspired to do one more 'Rambo' film, with the tone of Clint Eastwood's 'Unforgiven.'"

Reboot. Get Sly to direct a true First Blood staring a younger actor and stay closer to the original material or please don't bother.

Great news that Rambo 5 is being made.

I hope Stallone returns because without him, there's no Rambo movie.

Rambo: Last Stand is a good film title.

Still some fans would agree that the last Rambo movie end the franchise well.

I think maybe one last movie would be awesome with Rambo going up against a super terroist villain where's lots of fight scenes, lots of explosions and lots of gunfights.

It is great that action gerne is back.

I appreciate the last Rambo and I dont know if a 5th is necessary. If so, I guess he should finally die to find peace.

Wha ??? Clint's character in Unforgiven was not Blondie aka The Man with No Name. He was the antithesis of The Man with No Name. He was vulnerable and never wanted to have his young protege follow in his footsteps. He also dealt with a man who, while he was sadistic in the way he acted as sheriff, was still human.

John Rambo came home from Vietnam and was trying to assimilate back into society. When society rejected him (most violently, I might add), he retreated to a monestary and lived isolated from 'civilization'.

That's where the similarities end.

John Rambo, the last Rambo movie was a true ending to the mythos of the character. To extend it out with another one is like Bruce Willis doing another Die Hard after Live Free or Die Hard or remaking the Conan franchise ... all well and good on paper, but foreshadowing poor execution.

What do you say, Magic 8 Ball ?

Magic 8 Ball: "Outlook not good."

Im up for it if the Small Town story lets the American government finally acknowledge him as a hero instead of screwing him over

Heck it sounds better than what most films have been put out lately

I only accept another Rambo if its set in Vietnam where Rambo was a Green Beret and was captured as a POW

'...would be awesome with Rambo going up against a super terroist villain where's lots of fight scenes, lots of explosions and lots of gunfights.' --- he could do all that in The Expendables.
