Ridley Scott Signs on to Direct "Blade Runner 2"

Ridley Scott Signs on to Direct "Blade Runner 2"Submit Comment
Back in March, it was revealed that Alcon Entertainment was securing rights to produce prequels and sequels to the 1982 sci-fi thriller "Blade Runner," which was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Harrison Ford.

At the time, producer Andrew Kosove (Insomnia) revealed that he would like to re-team with Christopher Nolan for the project, but his dream was for Scott to return to the franchise.

Now comes word that Scott has signed on to direct and produce "Blade Runner 2." It is unknown whether the film will be a prequel or a sequel. It's also unclear whether Ford will be involved, but the actor has expressed interest in the project last month.

This news comes as Scott is currently working on a prequel to "Alien," another sci-fi classic that he directed.

Awful news.

Have any of these "revivals" of old franchises been any good?

What a look Scott gave that movie. And thank God for Rutger.

You people are going to be really upset when you see that Scott doesn't have "it" anymore, revisting old masterpieces and then sh*tting on them is the first sign that a director has lost it. I'm still waiting for Speilberg to announce that he's doing another Jaws.

Hey Stapes its funny you should mention that,

some of worst news in the past 40 years of cinema. the original is a rare masterpiece. my favorite movie of all time. you can be 100% certain the sequel (or however they're gonna present it) will be nothing but a big fat dissapointment. i hope this never makes it out of development.

Why cant he Do something new? Like Direct a God of War trilogy or something? Do a sequel or remake to Legend haha. I actually liked Robin Hood but I hate Russel Crowe, I cant stand his face! Regardless, He was so miscast as Robin.

10/10 for the clip there my friend

No way they should touch this, Leave perfection alone

I have a feeling this will be like trying to do another Jaws without Hooper, Brody and Quint. Ford and Hauer made that movie what it was. Dont get me wrong, it was stunning in every way but that was still a huge element.

I think Blade Runner 2 should be a sequel/reboot like having the movie based in the same universe but a new main lead character and I hope Harrison Ford makes a cameo.

It is great news that Ridley Scott is directing Blade Runner 2.
