"The Avengers" Set Photos Reveal Villains and Story Details Posted: August 16th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
We recently showed you photos and videos of a crowd of people running through the streets of "The Avengers" set. At the time, it wasn't clear what was happening, but now thanks to a new video, new photos, and a quote from a film extra, we have an idea of what the scene is all about. SPOILERS AHEAD: According to the photos, Captain America (Chris Evans) is fighting plenty of stuntmen who are wearing motion-capture suits and carrying otherworldly weapons. From several reports, the stuntmen will be turned into the Skrulls, an extraterrestrial humanoid race who have created a vast interstellar empire. A Skrull can mentally cause the unstable molecules that comprise his or her body to assume other forms (human, animal, alien). One extra said the following about the scene, which was shot in Cleveland but is meant to be NY: " It was thrilling during the street scene. We were running and screaming from the invasion of aliens or some force." About a year ago, we heard that Loki will use the Skrulls to battle the Avengers. And the reason why the Skrulls are being used, is to give each hero (Thor, Iron Man, Captain America) some screen-time showing off their fighting abilities. This would not work if the heros teamed up against one bad guy. Photos: (click to enlarge) Video: VIDEO Click here to read more about "The Avengers."

So...they spend all this time trying to make these comic-book films more grounded only to assemble them all together to stop an alien invasion?
I preferred the everyone against the hulk idea.
The fundamental problem with me is Thor. I understand that he's part of the avengers, but he's the most out-there and none of it really seems like it belongs in Tony Stark's universe.

That loos more like Loki's handywork.

Just lost a lot of interest. The Skrulls are a rather boring villain choice. I'll still see it because of the cast though.

They better learn the concept from the expendables. A solid good ol' fashioned action movies with a lot of action stars. Either that or the movie will suck big time.

Chris Evans looks awesome, I hope this turns out to be the best comic book team up movie of all time.
Thor, X-Men: First Class and Captain America: The First Avenger are the best comic book movies of the year.
Let's hope The Avengers turns out to be great.

Just the generic Skrull alien soldier # 1?
Just basic change the way their body looks, but pretty much go down in mass quantities like bitches when confronted by the likes of Hulk, Thor, and even Iron Man?
f*cking Joss Whedon...Doesn't surprise me a bit. The only thing that does surprise me is that he remembered to change the bad guys group names from Vampires or Reavers to Skrulls.
Sorry but I always thought that the Avengers deserved more originality than Joss Whedon splicing some crappy story together from deleted and unused scenes from his previous work.
