Kevin Smith Says "Hit Somebody" Will Be Two Films

Kevin Smith Says "Hit Somebody" Will Be Two FilmsSubmit Comment
Kevin Smith previously revealed that his "Hit Somebody" hockey film will be the last film he'll direct in order to focus more on producing and distribution. But during a screening of "Red State" in Montreal, Smith revealed that "Hit Somebody" will be a two-parter.

The story is of a hockey player with a talent for fighting, who dreams of scoring one goal. According to Smith, this story is too big to squeeze into one movie, and even considered developing a TV series. He since abandoned that idea and has decided to just make a four hour film and break it up into two parts. The first part will be about the main character's childhood, and the sequel will focus more on his NHL days.

It's unlikely that any studio will want to fund this project, but Smith is more than happy to find his own financing and distribute the films by taking them on the road, similar to what he did with "Red State."

In the end it will come down to whether movie-goers will want to watch Smith's four hour hockey film, especially when Seann William Scott's "Goon" has a similar premise and will likely be released before "Hit Somebody."

I used to love this guys movies and still think dogma is one of the funniest films i've ever seen, but like so many other directors they think because we like there movies that we're interested in there personal opinions on the rest of the world. With each article read about smith I loose a little more respect for him. IMO JAmes cAmeron is not too far behind this douche in expressing opinions on thing that nobody cares about.

Self-finance it all you want Tons O' Fun... that's the eas(ier)y part. Try finding distributors... and consider your dwindling fan base as all (realistic) people have discovered your talent well isn't as deep as your stomach.

Kevin Smith and Michael Moore should have a love child and just quietly retire.
