First Look: Bobcat Goldthwait's Violent "God Bless America" FilmPosted: August 4th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Back in March, director Bobcat Goldthwait (World's Greatest Dad) revealed that his next movie will be "God Bless America" about a 45-year-old man (Joel Murray) and a teenage girl (Tara Lynne Barr) who go on a killing spree. And today, we have the first photos from the film. Check them out below.
Here is how Goldthwait described the story: "There's a middle aged guy and he's at home watching a show like 'My Super Sweet 16.' There's always a horrible kid who gets everything she wants. 'I wanted an Escalade! You ruined everything!' So he's sitting at home watching a show like that and he drives 400 miles and kills that girl — spoiler alert! — and then her classmate is going 'Did you kill Chloe?' He doesn't say anything, and she goes 'awesome.' So then they get in this stolen Camero and drive around and kill people."
The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month during Midnight Madness.

I'm not ruling out anything, I'm being open minded, but how the f*ck did this get made?

^^ agreed.
But then Gus Van Sant's Elephant (great film)was closer to the nerve as it was virtually Columbine re-done and that got a release. And i dont know for sure but thinking back i think Basketball Diaries had a bit of a delay in its release because of the 'going to class to blow everyone away sequence'.
I like Bobcat's directorial work so far. He does seem to push the boudaries of what is acceptable, finding what is taboo and working back.
Hope this works.

Didn't "Kick Ass" already do this? Do we really need to see another little girl killing sh*t this soon?

Yeah, another Natural Born Killer, but with an old man and a teenage girl. It won't be as controversial or violent as the first one, so just give up the project already...

I don't see the problem. How many of you haven't dreamed about snuffing one of those horrible children?

No death is to good for those little whiny c*nts ... drop them off in India's shanty towns and see how long they survive... there 16 and think the world owes them , it don't . Jdl107 is correct this film will piss people off and im glad maybe they'll take stock of the silver spoon that is in their child's mouth and make them earn an allowance not just treat their parents like walking ATM's .

Worlds Greatest Dad was a surprisingly great movie. I think there will probably be a good underlying story that makes the concept seem less rehashed
