Leonardo DiCaprio is Top-Earning Hollywood Actor

Leonardo DiCaprio is Top-Earning Hollywood ActorSubmit Comment
About a month ago we reported that Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker are the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, earning $30 million each between May 2010 and May 2011.

And today we learned that Leonardo DiCaprio is the highest paid actor with $77 million. That's more than Jolie and Parker earned combined. The actor's money came from "Shutter Island" and "Inception," which were both major hits.

Johnny Depp had to settle for second place with $50 million, mostly for "Rango" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," which broke the $1 billion mark.

And I guess "Toy Story" movies pay well, since both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen ended up on the list with $35 million and $22 million respectively. The third installment also broke the $1 billion mark.

Check out the full list below:

1. Leonardo DiCaprio: $77 million

2. Johnny Depp: $50 million

3. Adam Sandler: $40 million

4. Will Smith: $36 million

5. Tom Hanks: $35 million

6. Ben Stiller: $34 million

7. Robert Downey Jr: $31 million

8. Mark Wahlberg: $28 million

9. Tim Allen: $22 million

10. Tom Cruise: $22 million

11. Jim Carrey: $20 million

12. Daniel Craig: $20 million

13. Robert Pattinson: $20 million

14. Brad Pitt: $20 million

15. Matt Damon: $18 million

What no Bale?

Quite suprising really, guess points do win prizes.

At least he deserved the money for being in decent films unlike the next 5 c*nts down.

Mark Wahlberg is the real surprise. How the hell did he end up so high? I don't hate the guy, but he isn't exactly the biggest crowd-puller.

Leonardo di Caprio and Johnny Depp are probably 2 of the best actors of their generation. It's not surprising to see them at the top. And I think, over the past few years, it's always been either one or the other who is at the top of the list

Will Smith $36 Mil

He hasn't even made a film for 3 years !!

Nice(non)work if you can get it ...

I am not surprised because Leo has been working as a actor since he was a kid and now look where he is now.

Also I am not being sad but Macaulay Culkin was the highest paid child actor in the 90's and now where he is now.

There are some great stories about child actors turning into great adult actors but some have failed like Culkin, Lindsey Lohan, Corey Feldman and other more.

It is very sad that Hollywood made these kids dream to be famous and rich but the dark side of fame destroy these kids and made them into drug addicts and shopping thieves.

Still time has changed and Hollywood has been more nicer and the child actors of this age are becoming more nice and quiet instead of partying and getting drunk.

So I think the next generation of actors are going to be great.

Great news for Leo and Depp.

I wish they make another movie together because they are great actors of their generation.

At least Shia LaBitch didn't make the cut. And Daniel Craig? I like the guy but what big movies has he made other than Casino Royale and Cowboys & Aliens?

Cinema

I wish is was about how decent their films are which would then reflect in their paycheques, As you know it's all about the Boxoffice and those guys Depp,Smith and Sandler especially do take a lot of money where that is concerned.

Can't explain Ben Stiller though, Anyone who watched the last Focker Parents movie surely tried to get some sort of refund
trailertrash writes:

Anyway didn't alot of these guys get this yearly ammount per film not so long ago
trailertrash writes:

amount :)
Cinemaisdead writes:

Trailer- Yeah I know what you mean. Obviously Leo's got Scorsese behind him and Johnny Depp had the talent of Tim Burton when he was talented. It seems to be the smart actors who chose the right mixture of box office and smaller films to prove their worth. It must be hard now days with the amount of sh*t being shoveled about to even make the right decisions so Leo still seems to be doing OK.

Ben Stiller obviously gave up trying to be funny and became a cartoon of himself like a lot of comedic actors out there.

If Giovanni Ribisi had Leo's part in Titanic, he would be number one on the list right now.

What I'm trying to say is, Leonardo is not a great actor, just extremely lucky.

Stapes

Personally i don't really have a problem with someone earning a big paycheque for a film if their name will be bringing in the crowds.

Cinema is a different entity today, Go back 20 years or more and the star was the star of the film

Nowadays it's all about the effects, The 3D or the next instalment of some sort of franchise.

Maybe the Big payday won't be such a regular thing anymore, Just ask Chris Evans
