"Green Lantern 2" to be Darker and With More Action

"Green Lantern 2" to be Darker and With More ActionSubmit Comment
Even though "Green Lantern" has yet to open in 22 more countries, the film is already considered a failure since it grossed only $154 million worldwide on a $200 million budget that doesn't even include a marketing budget that's likely just as big.

LA Times caught up with Warner Bros film group president Jeff Robinov, who said that the studio is considering moving forward with a sequel. "We had a decent opening, so we learned there is an audience," he explained. "To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth."

Warners is not planning to bring back Martin Campbell, even though the director is signed for two "Green Lantern" films.

Robinov also said that the studio has "a solid script" for "The Flash" movie, but the focus is on a "Justice League of America" film.

Green Lantern 2 will be darker. Ha! The only way for it to be dark is if it never sees the light of day.

The same thing happened with Superman Returns sequel, in which Singer promise more action and less romance drama than in Superman Returns.... And look what it happen..... In a couple of weeks they canceled the project and focus on a new reboot which at the moment hasnīt see the light and had been pushed to 2013.... It seems Superman is not bankable anymore on people.... The same will happen with this and at the end it wouldnīt materialize just letting die....

Green Lantern is the worst comic book movie of the year.

The cast was okay but the humour was over the top, I was thinking if the movie is spoofy or not.

Also Green Lantern didn' deserve that most anticipated Movie of the summer Scream Award.

The film was a piece of crap where compare to Thor, X-Men: First Class and Captain America: TFA, those movies are the best comic book movies of the year.

Good on Marvel.

GL has one of the BEST back-stories of ALL super-heroes. Did they learn NOTHING from Nolan's success with Batman and leave the campy sh*t OFF the table?!?!?!

GL could have made a FORTUNE were it done the way they claim it'll be in the second one (although... the camp from the first movie may have turned off many to endure a sequel). They should have made the first one, dark, serious, etc.

Hollywood... f*ck! Didn't Reeves (RIP) Superman's 3 & 4 teach you ANYTHING?!

lmao, darker is their answer to everything that sucks.
MarshallErikson writes:

I agree with Ranger. Green Lantern could have been one of the BEST STORIES EVERY TOLD. Its like the Superhero equivalent of Star Wars.

Green Lantern is like a space opera.
They're f*cking space police! This story had such potential.

But what did we see in the movie? A bunch of crappy CG and a villain who looked like he was from Fantastic Four. NEXT!

Also, they need to find a way to make it good, watchable at least.

I look forward to a sequel I enjoyed the movie for what it was not the best comic book movie but not the worst.I'm buying it on blu ray for sure.

Have yet to see it, but jusging on the comments and reviews not holding much hope.

They could redeem themselves with the second one.

Or do what they usually do and reboot the f*cking thing.

Ahhhhh yes plan A fails so lets go the Batman Begins route and sink more money in to this ... and if i remember correctly a JL movie was not in the cards .... what changed ? Greed or a need to compete to give the fans a movie they deserve not what the studios think the fans want ( they tend to be very wrong ) .

They should've thought of that BEFORE making the first movie. oh and btw, darker, edgier, more action isn't necessarily the answer. A GOOD SCRIPT IS!

Anytime they say a movie is going to be more darker they're always full of BS. Come to think of it-- why even make a second one when the 1st was a flop.

Getting rid of Martn Campbell is 1 step in the right direction but they should reboot this now! Recast Ryan aswell cuz he was just so wrong 4 this.

if they honestly did make it serious and gave it a darker tone it could be epic. it "COULD" blow batman and superman out of the water. and i wish it would, not for the sake of making something better then nolans bat trilogy or better then what we all hope supes will be. but because its honestly one of the most original and epic level based stories in comics. my thing is that space is a dark, erie, scary place. it was a total cartoon in the space scenes other then on oa when sinestro talked. make it dark erie and scary in the space scenes then make it toned similar to the way tdk was in daytime scenes on the earth scenes. now that the origin is out of the way write a script the dwells down into a more complex story of sinestro and his war against the lanterns. base it off the sinestro corps war or something and write it so reynolds HAS to give a performance like what he gave in buried. absolutely serious and no joking except maybe what 4 lines in the whole film?

a film like that, that also included the star sapphire and zamarons storyline with a runtime of nearly 3hrs, at least 2hrs30mins, based off the graphic novels of SWC like i said above as well as sins of the star saphire (similar to how BB is based on year one and haunted knight, TDK on long halloween, TDKR on knightfall and dark knight returns) instead of some writers, generally, horrible original storyline idea. with about the same budget. it would become a success.

If they do make the flash into a movie....and do it right...It could be so sick. They should let me direct it, I would make the audience j*zz with excitement. j*zz!!!
