Peter Berg Confirms New "Friday Night Lights" MoviePosted: August 2nd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
During the panel for NBC's "Prime Suspect," executive producer Peter Berg (director of "Battleship" and "Hancock") confirmed that a new movie based on his "Friday Night Lights" TV series, which ended its five-season run, is in active development.
"We're very serious about trying to do it," he said, adding that the script is currently being written. Universal Pictures is planning to begin filming next year and will bring back Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton to star.
In 2004, Berg directed a "Friday Night Lights" movie that starred Billy Bob Thornton, Garrett Hedlund, Lucas Black and Amber Heard. It grossed $64 million on a $30 million budget.

So the movie is based on a TV show based on a movie ? Talk about the snake regugitating its own tail, then eating the feces!
Hate to say it, but Berg is a much better actor than director. And that's not saying much.

No, Max. You're oversimplifying it.
It's a movie based on a TV show based on a movie based on a book based on a true story.

From an outsider's perspective this would seem like Hollywood being Hollywood and drowning itself in remakes. But the show was much different from the original movie and as a huge fan of the show I can't wait to see Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton back at work as Coach and Tami Taylor.
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose.
