Nathan Fillion Wants "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" Lead

Posted: July 25th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Nathan Fillion Wants "Uncharted: DrakeSubmit Comment
When David O Russell (The Fighter) was attached to direct a big screen version of the "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" video game, fans kept asking him to cast Nathan Fillion (Serenity) as the lead, despite the fact that Mark Wahlberg was already on board.

Russell eventually dropped out and Neil Burger (Limitless) is now working on the film. And once again, fans are pestering the helmer with requests to cast Fillion. "I think he's a good actor, [but] there's a lot of really good actors who don't even look like [Nathan Drake] who could play [the role]," Burger previously said.

Now in an interview with ScreenRant, Fillion confirmed that he would be interested in the role, but is worried that fans will ruin his chances.

"I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake. I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think," he said. "What I don't want is people pressuring that poor man [director Neil Burger] and souring him on the actual idea. Do you remember the movie 'Inception'? I think that's what we need to do. We need to let him land on the idea on his own."

That's actually not an awful choice, but the movie will still suck anyway.

They have to cast him, Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly) one of the great suprises watching any show, ever, totally unexpected and awesome, still bitter it was cancelled.

He's perfect for this... not just saying it bcos totally gay for this guy.

He is 50 right? But still looks like he is 30-35. I think he can pull it. He was awesome in everything, but he isn't a box office attraction

The role is perfect for him, never played the games, but seen some footage. He would nail the role

Fillion is only 40 and would be perfect for the part. God forbid a director in Hwood actually picks a fan favorite for a role. What do fans know anyway? They've only spent their time and money playing the games and becoming familiar with the title character over the last several years. I think thats more than ANYONE attached to the film has contributed. But hey, lets roll with whatever the studio beancounters and lawyers come up with since their videogame movie trackrecord is so stellar and full of great decisions.

I've played both games thousands of times and the only guys that can do it are Chris Pine and this guy. In a perfect world where good things happen to me Bruce Campbell would play Sully. But that's not exactly where we live.

Too old now Fillion. I'd go for Bradley Cooper or David Boreanaz maybe even Ryan Reynolds.

And the director doesn't need to go off on his own idea. The game has a perfect story as it is.

As much as I love Fillion he's just a bit out of the age to play this. Even as early as 5 years ago, it would have been perfect. but unfortunately he's up there. If you see him now on Castle, he's on the heavy side than he was on Firefly. Now the Firefly Nathan Fillion would be a natural fit for this but that was 8 years ago.
I honestly think they will Bradley Cooper this film which will be doom!!

Nathan Fillion would be perfect! Would lend a great sense of humour as well as being a great actor.

Part of the problem is the film industry still sees itself as above the game industry which is bullsh*t. If someone from film decides to go work on some game, Hollywood acts like the game industry is so lucky to have this great new messiah descend upon them. So when the fans (obviously gamers for the most part) say something like "We want Nathan Fillion", they ignore them.

I'm not saying the fans are always 100% right or that the people making the movie shouldn't have their own vision of the movie. But the key is perspective. And until Hollywood realizes they're not above Gaming, chances are the movies will continue to suck and the fans will continue to not support those movies.

Fillion would be so much better than Mark "I talk to animals" Wahlberg.

Go, go, go for it!
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Knowing Hollywood, they'll offer this to Danny Bonaduce, Shia Labeouf and Jim Carey before they use logic and fan based interest and choose Fillion.
