Arnold Schwarzenegger's "The Last Stand" Gets a Release Date

Lionsgate recently announced that "The Last Stand" will be Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to the big screen. And today, the studio has set a January 18th, 2013 release date for the film. This is a bit of a surprise, since January is one of the worst months for movies. The plan is to begin shooting in September.

Plot: Schwarzenegger will be starring as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled.

After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of US law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever.

At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

I was pumped.....but a January release usually means the studio doesn't believe too hard in the project.

So I will wait for a trailer.

BUT ARNOLD IS BACK OH YEAH !

Lets just remember one thing: Rambo was released in January ...and that movie f*cked your mother!

So let the Comic-Con nerds have summer. Leave the family films/Oscar bait for the Holidays. January is officially Arnold Schwarzenegger month.

See you at da party, Richta!

It's Lionsgate. It's Hollywood.

They want to see if Arnie is still worth his reputation.

If he is: this movie will do great no matter when it's realeased.

It looks a bit as a Unforgiven style in which characters driven by retirement or personal issues with life, decide to take a last vow of decent justice..... But I still dont know why they realize this title when isnt even December 2011, man. Why not pushed November of next year.... Maybe but I dont it had to be with FX even when the movie is not scifi or action, WTF?
