"The Jetsons" Movie is Still in Development

"The Jetsons" Movie is Still in DevelopmentSubmit Comment
ComingSoon caught up with producer Denise Di Novi to get an update on the live-action "The Jetsons" movie that Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) has been working on and planning to direct.

"I've been developing that for so many years," she said. "We actually just turned a new draft in of that script last week to the studio, so I'm still trying to make it. I still think it would be a hit movie. [Rodriguez] was attached to it and his version was fantastic, but honestly, it wasn't a mainstream studio version."

Di Novi added: "Part of it is that every couple of years, the genre changes. The pressure is on to really make the coolest movies, not the cornball cartoon movies. I'm hoping now we're hitting it at the right time. I've never given up on that movie."

Got a feeling De Niro will be playing George Jetson

That's a movie that IMHO doesn't need to be made. Cartoon characters RARELY translate well to live-action films unless they stay as cartoons. Spy VS Spy though, on the other hand, can work; except it'll be more like "Assassins".

What the f*ck is wrong with Rodriguez these days. He has time for these sh*tty movies but he can't make a f*cking Sin City sequel.

The thing is that it won't be a cool movie but just another cornball and sh*t cartoon movie. Rodriguez has the syndrome of the director who believes he can direct anything, including "cool"cartoon movies and not just action movies like Sin City whereas it's what he does well. Like Magneto said "You want society to accept you but you can't even accept yourself"...

Remember that Flinstones movie? This will be as bad as that.

I seem to have no recollection of a Flintstones movie

Bullsh*t. Hanna and Barbera cartoons have never been a good basis for movies. Yogi Bear, Both Flintstones movies, and Scooby Doo 2 all sucked. The Smurfs looks bad, but Scooby Doo 1 was mildly entertaining, due to the novelty of it at the time.

I'm sorta pissed that sh*t like this is still being considered, but Universal Pictures drops all plans for a Dark Tower movie franchise.

I have officially lost all faith in hollywood.

@trailertrash

Amnesia is often an symptom of being raped. You were probably raped by "Flinstones: Viva Rock Vegas". No wonder your mind is trying to get rid of memories - that movie was awfull.

I personally think that this movie wont happen. Same with that Yogi Bear sequel.

The Flinstones didn't turn out too good as a live action movie...same with Yogi Bear..Scooby Doo..don't even think they should bother with this.

Well if this does get done the perfect person to play Mr.Spacely would have to be Danny De Vito. Right?
shamusot00le writes:

I can see this happening. A sci-fi family (probably looking a lot like the lost in space movie unfortunately) of which the father works for a company (Spacely Ltd) that's been caught up in an industrial espionage scandal (against Cogswell Inc.) that treatens to pull apart his family by way of Cogswells heavies threatening to kill them if he doesn't deliver Spacely's secrets. He must find a way to save his family and take Cogswell down once and for all.. It's a sci-fi/action/thriller somewhere between iRobot & Minority report vibe...and I think it should be called Jetson, not 'the Jetsons'... 2c

^ but in the pitch you'd probably have to drop "but dark like the new Batman movies"
