Arnold Schwarzenegger's "The Last Stand" Plot Synopsis

Just yesterday we reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger's next project will be "The Last Stand," which will be directed by Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil) and set to begin filming in September. Today, Lionsgate made the official announcement about the film, releasing a more detailed plot summary.

Plot: Schwarzenegger will be starring as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of US law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger will bring incredible magnetism to this complex but classic role," said the studio. "When he came on the screen in 'The Expendables,' it always electrified the audience. In this film, the Sheriff Owens character grapples with some really tough stuff, but ultimately triumphs, and we knew he'd truly elevate this high octane ride."

Arnold should be able to get from set to set quickly when he drives his rascal.

Seems like a lot of big talk going on here.

I just hope it doesn't turn out like Arnolds last few films before he became the Governor and f*cked Mildred the housekeeper and had a love child

@trailertrash - sounds like a sequel to the scandal he is facing. I have not even seen part 1 of it. Lol....

That is one long sentence.

'...hes the stereotypical drug dealer, convict that's like 80 years old.' --- yeah, get Sam Ronson.

The plot seems great but one question: why now?

Arine is in his 60's and he wants to make a comeback and still believes the audience want him but come on, times changed now the film industry has Robert Patterison, Taylor Lauther, Shia LeBeouf and other good looking actors that taken over the film world.

Action and Horror isn't the same anymore like it used to be in the 80's now that Romantic and Fantasy movies have taken over the genre.

I just hope this comeback works and he will do The Expendables 2 where he has a larger role maybe kicking ass with Stallone in the movie.

He should also do Terminator 5 hopefully.

So he's dragging his pig valved, glass hipped body out for another then?
No thanks, too old,fat and unconvincing as an action star now and his 'acting' ability won't be able him to carry it off.
Reminds me of a bottle of milk.Fantastic fresh out of the fridge on day one,all crisp and ice cool....two weeks later, not so much.
Half the problem i think is finding somebody credible to carry the baton on from the golden action days....no one's really done yet for me,Expendables maybe...

The Expendables sequel will be the biggest comedy of next year with a bigger ridiculously washed up cast.Especially Jean Claude Van Damme.but then again there are worse things like the Rush Hour movies and the Pirates of Caribean movies.

bandolero999, The Expendables 2 will be a great action movie not a comedy movie and the cast is not washed up, it has a legendary cast with great 80's action hero stars and it is great that Stallone is making a sequel because there are no real hard men in the film industry of today, all it has is Shia LeBeouf, Robert Patterison and Justin Bieber where all of them can't act and if they are to be action heroes, they will complete fail.

It is time for the action genre to return and trash those Twilight fantasy movies and show that the real hard men have return.

The Expendables 2 is being directed by Simon West and it has great writers so it will awesome now the script will focus on the story and there will plenty of action in it.
minkowski writes:

Uh, let's face it, no one in the Expendables can act. No one. Not even Stallone. And the first film wasn't really a film, it was a feature length action commercial, and a fairly good one at that, but it had numerous issues, like the lighting, the characters that were crudely pulled from 70s pulp fiction, and the inane and unnecessary gore. Not a bad 'film', but not nearly as good as top shelf action from the 80s or 90s.

The only question I have concerning The Last Stand is just how long can Arnold stand around without his wheelchair. The only thing not crippled on that man is his d*ck, apparently.

Only Eric Roberts and Mickey Rourke were the real actors
BlackDynamite writes:

I honestly see The Rock in Arnie's role. It just reminds me of something he would make, like Walking Tall.

I like how the image above is of Arnold from like a thousand years ago. Back when he had a leg to stand on.
