Johnny Depp Working on "The Night Stalker" and Paul Revere Movies

Johnny Depp Working on "The Night Stalker" and Paul Revere MoviesSubmit Comment
Disney is re-teaming with Johnny Depp for two new projects, including a big screen version of the 1970s TV movie "The Night Stalker" and a feature film based the Midnight Ride made by Paul Revere to warn Colonial militia of the impending British invasion.

In "The Night Stalker" Depp will potentially play tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak, whose investigation always seemed to lead him to vampires, zombies, werewolves and aliens. During one case, he hunted a killer who was draining the blood of beautiful girls on the Las Vegas strip.

"Midnight Ride" is being written by "Batman Forever" scribes Lee and Janet Batchler. The film will focus on Revere and that 24-hour period in which he made the risky ride from Charlestown to Lexington, becoming a seminal figure in the American Revolutionary War.

Isn't the Paul Revere-story mostly lies? Well, at least the historical inaccuracies won't come as a surprise.

The first project is ok for me. The second even I donīt know much about history stuff. Iīm not so sure. I just remember in every single movie or representation of the guy running in his horse yelling in every single small town: " The British are coming, The British are coming!!!!!" But after that I donīt know about that if is true or false, I just simply donīt know!!!!!

Batman Forever" scribes Lee and Janet Batchler.

Why are these people still working since that film came out they should be burned alive. I guess Johnny Depp is trying to salvage his career now POTC is nearing an end.

the Batman forever writers should of been executed in a firing squad in the 90s for writing inhumane movie material.

RIP JOHNY DEPP your movie roles are know becoming more predictable and stale everyday

Batman forever scribes, they say that like they are proud... They should be hiding the fact that they had anything to do with that turd. As for night stalker, i think it sounds awesome. I recall the show, saw the reruns on sci fi or sy fy as its now known, lol.

The Night Stalker (by Disney)... a.k.a the Richard Ramirez story.

Next Up from Disney Studios: Taste's Funny (the Jeffrey Dahmer story), Prince Charming (the Ted Bundy Story).

Now that I thinking "MIdnight Ride" sounds a little bit of porn title, Donīt you think?

Sybil Ludington rode twice as far as Revere did, did much more for the revolution. You'll never see a movie about her midnight run.

I used to watch The Night Stalker tv series with my dad back in the day. Netflix is now streaming the series.

"did much more for the revolution"

Actually she didn't. Her efforts to save Danford failed, whereas Paul Revere was quite successful alerting the local militia before the battles of Lexington and Concord.

Todays, she's remembered more for the fact she was female and less for the fact that she did anything noteworthy, which amounts to little beyond traveling farther than Revere, which she was required and which Paul Revere, by vitue of geography and circ*mstance, was not.

Moving on, I like the idea of a Kolchak movie. I hope it's quite good, and it will be nice to see (hopefully) an X-Files-influenced movie that is a remake of Kolchak, which was the direct inspiration for Chris Carter's X-Files. A bit of a circle there.

"The Night Stalker (by Disney)... a.k.a the Richard Ramirez story."

Interesting that you mention him. That was my first thought as well, my second that of Kolchak.

Also, Richard Ramirez wasn't the first 'Night Stalker'. There was another man, responsible for even more murders, named the ONS, the Original Night Stalker. This man, who was never caught, is also responsible for dozens of rapes and burglaries.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_Night_Stalker

A movie concerning the ONS, one that's far more factual than David Fincher's bit of 'Zodiac' fantasy, would be very welcome.

"Isn't the Paul Revere-story mostly lies?"

Depends on which story you mean. The Wikipedia article is fairly accurate but lacks that patina of heroic melodrama that once infused the tale of Revere's ride. I'd say he's still every bit the important man of legend as he ever was, perhaps even more now that all the facts are more easily known.

"I guess Johnny Depp is trying to salvage his career now POTC is nearing an end."

Not sure what you mean. Pirates has at least two more films, stretching over perhaps six more years. That's hardly 'coming to an end', any more than Shia, after Transformers 1, would have thought that his Baybot stint was near closure.

No here? Probably no one. On, say, Slashdot.org or Arstechnica? Everyone. Big difference, I guess, between the educated intelligent and the illiterate trolls, I suppose, which must mean you have a nice little crack here in which to hide. How's that working out for you? Good? Well, then, keep it up.

Mink every comment you make does less for your cause. Your little conversations you have with yourself and petty name calling comebacks are ALL THE SAME. How's that working out for ya? Good? You spend 95% of your day commenting on worstpreviews comment boards about how smart, intelligent, and wise you are? Oh, awesome...

"As for the grammer, look how many sh*ts I give!"

"ass f*ck"

No, I'll pass, but I'm sure you'll find a willing partner.

"its a comment board."

Actually, it's not a board, it's a comment thread section.

Thanks for playing.

"Grow up baby, all you do is bitch."
