Trailer: William Shatner's "The Captains" Documentary

Posted: June 28th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Trailer: William ShatnerSubmit Comment
A few days ago, we showed you a photo of William Shatner arm wrestling with Chris Pine (pictured), who both played Captain James T Kirk in "Star Trek."

It turned out that this is all apart of "The Captains" documentary that Shatner is shooting, which features the actor sitting down with all of "Star Trek's" captains, like Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, Avery Brooks, Scott Bakula and Pine.

Today, we have a short trailer for the movie that will premiere at Comic-Con next month and will air online at the Epix website (Friday, July 22nd at 8pm EDT). Immediately after the screening, there will be a questions and answers session hosted by Kevin Smith. Check out the trailer below.

They already did this, once, on the extra disc for the Star Trek movie boxed set (great extra BTW).

Now their just milking the franchise and it makes me sick to see them whore it out like this, but then, I guess after rebooting Gene Rodenberry's idealistic vision of the future into 'Star Wars for Idiots', I shouldn't be shocked and awed.

As for the ten orginal films, the Shat Pack rules, though First Contacts was very good at times, especially during Picard's little Moby d*ck speech. Out of character, but still great.

" To boldly go where that schilling a*hole has gone before. And before. And before. "

He may be the one true captain, but with that bulk he's starting to look more like that whale they beamed aboard the Enterprise in "The Voyage Home".

@minkowski

I gotta respectfully disagree about Star Trek V : The Search for God.

Vomit on the screen doesn't hide the shame of the cast.

Yeah, V sucked. Total junk. What the hell were they thinking? But 1 was decent, a bit long in the tooth and a little to Larry Niven for my taste, two was epic, three was meh, four was rousing and six was non-stop awesomness. Generations was meh, and idiotic for killing Kirk, Contact was badass in most parts, Resurrection was something because I can't recall a damned thing about the film and ten was a fatal blunder for an ailing dranchise.

And killing Data was just too damned obvious and cliched, redoing the death of Spock again. Yawn.

And don't get me started on that sh*t reboot.

franchise.

@minkowski

Speaking of Generations ... I kept wondering if Malcolm McDowell had the same agent as Christopher Walken and convinced him to play that mad doctor, reassuring, " Hey, it worked for Chris with View to a Kill, Malcolm! Remember! Franchise! "

Cant wait to get fried and watch this.

Someone here rented "Easy A" and Malcolm couldn't have looked more bored (or pissed off) that he had to play that role.

I mean, he looked more pissed than when starred in "A Clockwork Orange".

Personally, I think he's been slumming.

@Electro Rock

If it worked for "The Devil's Rejects", it'll definitely work for this.

They should have got Christopher Lloyd to do the nutty villain in Generations instead of Malcolm. He's got that fearsome wackiness down to an art.

Funny you mention both Devil's Rejects and McDowell in the same thread. Never would have thought we'd end up talking about Rob Zombie-related anything twice of all things.

And Lloyd is an awesome crazy. Hope he does one last hurrah before he goes. Lol a portrayal of Charles Applewhite.

@minkowski

Great minds do think alike ...

Actually, Christopher Lloyd was in a Star Trek film, Star Trek III : The Search for Spock. He played Klingon Commander Kruge (Thanks, Wikipedia, for the assist!).

And poor, poor Malcolm ... I kinda saw his career start to "sag" (as it were) when he wound up in 'Tank Girl' and also that Fantasy Island reboot for ABC.

Ugh.
minkowski writes:

How does a guy that leads A Clockwork Orange end up in a Fantasy Island reboot? f*ck. That's like Gandhi getting reincarnated as Lindsay Lohan's vibrator. Totally undeserved.

And that was Lloyd! Holy sh*t.

@Mink

I always knew it was Lloyd that played that character, but yea, holy hell it is a shocker seeing up in makeup like that.
