Coen Bros Next Film is a Musical Based on Dave Van RonkSubmit Comment
The Coen Bros (True Grit) recently revealed that they are working on a music-related film, that may end up being their next project. LA Times now has a bit more information.

According to the paper, the brothers are writing a script that's loosely based on the life of Dave van Ronk, who is a legendary musician who presided over New York City's cofeehouse scene during the 60s.

The musician, who died in 2002 at the age of 66, was known for his musical acumen, left-wing politics, general erudition and entertaining storytelling. On his watch, era-defining musicians such as Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell were discovered and cultivated.

Van Ronk published a posthumous memoir three years later titled "The Mayor of MacDougal Street." The Coens are using the book as material for their film.

Eh, a lot of the other projects the Coen brothers have talked about doing sound more interesting than this.

Coen Bros Next Film is a Musical Based on Dave Van Ronk ... if this works, it'll be worth the watch. If not, it'll be a Ryan Dunn, just roasting in its own whiskey soaked flames.

Van Ronk.....what a top name.

The Coen Brothers are totally hit or miss for me, we'll see where this movie goes.

I bet Frank Whaley is looking at that picture and wetting himeself, saying, " Now, I can be in a Coen film! "

... this will be the fourth movie Tanman and Watson's DVD collection, next to their c*m-encrusted copies of Milk, Caligula and Titus.
Nihilistic Michael Maus writes:

I bet this will be the Ryan Dunn of doc*mentaries .... soaked in Kentucky aged bourbon and set on fire, like a Viking funeral ... or the wedding cake at Watson's and Tanman's secret wedding.

Miss here, save perhaps for Fargo. Terrible films. Raising Arizona? Unwatchable. Maybe it was the hammy Nick Cage performance. Burn After Reading? Trash. No Country For Old Men might be the only film of there's I can watch more than once, only because the killer is a lot like the Terminator.
minkowski writes:

Ok, seriously, can we PLEASE stop talking about Ryan f*cking Dunn? Jesus. It's over. He's dead. Let's just let it GO.
Nihilistic Michael Maus writes:

@minkowski

You have a point, sir. No need to beat a dead ... ah! Almost said it, but used restaint ... much like the restraints Tanman wears when he is getting mounted by Watson in their elaborate dungeon ... I will just say I hope this movie isn't a Bucky Larson, with a tad of Mr. Popper's Penguins and The Zookeeper thrown in. That would be too Jack and Jill. Even for New York State.

It's bloody amazing Swai's even able to type any clear words on his keyboard, considering the way his knuckles keep scraping them as he pounds them out, one finger at a time.

Oh, and I'm bloody looking forward to this movie.

Michael Maus is like steven segal every-post he puts up he says the same thing! what an idiot! Ohh what a loser! He,Max and ranger and minkowski have nothing better to do but to make fun of dead people they don't know how f*cked up they are and are jealous of how much cooler Ryan Dunn was than them. hahaha let's see what theyre gonna say next.

How adorable, you tried to make a comeback and utterly failed at it. Don't worry, I'm sure you won't fail when your dad sneaks into your bed and tells you to look at the blue diamond ;)
