"Pinocchio" Tops Time Magazine's 25 Best Animated Films List

Posted: June 24th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Pinocchio" Tops Time MagazineSubmit Comment
Time magazine has put together their list of the best animated films of all time. And while there are plenty of Pixar movies on this list, it was Disney's 1940 "Pinocchio" that took first place.

"Wall-E" had to settle for second place, which means that Time magazine considered "Wall-E" the best Pixar film, even ahead of "Finding Nemo" and "Toy Story," which took 9th and 12th places.

Take a look at the full list below and let us know which movie you believe should have taken first place.

25. Lady and the Tramp (1955)

24. Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

23. Yellow Submarine (1968)

22. Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! (2008)

21. Kung Fu Panda (2008)

20. Paprika (2007)

19. Tangled (2010)

18. The Lion King (1994)

17. Akira (1988)

16. Happy Feet (2006)

15. Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

14. The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926)

13. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

12. Toy Story (1995)

11. Toy Story 3 (2010)

10. The Little Mermaid (1989)

9. Finding Nemo (2003)

8. The Triplets of Belleville (2003)

7. Up (2009)

6. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut (1999)

5. Spirited Away (2001)

4. Dumbo (1941)

3. The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie (1979)

2. WALL-E (2008)

1. Pinocchio (1940)

regardless of what anyone says, The Lion King will always be the best animated film in my opinion

FILMS THAT SHOULDN'T BE ON THIS LIST
The Little Mermaid
Toy Story 3 (2 is much better)
Yellow Submarine
Happy Feet
Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!
Tangled

FILMS THAT SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST
The Incredibles (best Pixar film)
The Illusionist
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Jungle Book
Peter Pan
Nightmare Before Christmas
Fantasia (On acid, only way to watch it)

South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut

Seriously? I thought it's Time magazine, not Mad Magazine.

It's a hilarious satire and all - but 6? Not even in the first 50.

This list is poor.

Lion King should be number one. Akira, Toy Story and Bambi should be in the top ten. I don't know whether Tom and Jerry were initially cinematic films but if so they should be there also.

This list can f*ck itself up the arse!!

There are at least seven movies that shouldn't be on the list.

Load of BOLLOCKS.
Jungle Book?
Incredibles?
Watership Down?
Fantasia?

Suckmycog1 writes:

There are so many great animated movies that are missing from this list I mean toy story 2 the incredibles Bambi Alladin. The lion king in my opinion is THE best animated film of all time.
Suckmycog1 writes:

@cinemaisdead you pretty much nailed it on the films that should be on the top 25 list man. I mean how can Horton hears a who be on there when the nightmare before christmas isn't. This list probably has half of should be and half shouldn't be it's weak
SACdaddy writes:

The Secret of Nimh (that owl used to give me nightmares as a kid)

The Incredibles

Transformers: The Movie

Ninja Scroll

The Iron Giant

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (just because its 90 mins of the the best cartoon series ever made)

These should have definitely made the cut imo.

Wall E is arguably the best Pixar film, but Pinocchio is in no way the best animated film. What about Beauty and the Beast? The Lion King? Foreign animated films? This list kind of sucks.
trailertrash writes:

Love the fact The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie is at no 3, Used to watch that movie over and over as a kid a long with another classic cartoon Hugo the Hippo

Wow, Sac finally, finally said something I can uproariously applaud. Amen brother.

But just this time.

And this list can go right f*ck itself off. Where's Metropolis?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_(2001_film)

This list sucks d*ck.

Here's a FAR SUPERIOR list:

http://movies.ign.com/articles/650/650717p1.html

And yet still no Metropolis. Even Cameron said it was superb.

The folks at Time can lick the sweat from my ass.

Having South Park ahead of films like Toy Story and The Lion King is absolute garbage. This list is crap.
triggax writes:

South park deserves to be on that list, absolutely.

As a musical it was exceptional.

f*ck everything else. Animated movies are for children and d*ckless nerds.

'Little Auschwitz'

What do you think of dem apples Spielberg?!
ilovemovies82 writes:

Considering how beloved it is by critics and considering the fact that it's the ONLY animated flick to ever be nominated for best picture at the academy awards, I'm really surprised that Beauty and the Beast isn't on the list.

And Happy Feet? Really? Kung Fu Panda? Over not only Beauty and the Beast but also Fantasia and Aladdin? Seriously? Also really loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame as well. Not a very good list, I must agree. Would have expected better from Time magazine.
ilovemovies82 writes:

Horton Hears a Who isn't that good either and definitely doesn't belong on this list!
