"Scary Movie 5" and "Halloween 3D" Get Release Dates

"Scary Movie 5" and "Halloween 3D" Get Release DatesSubmit Comment
We knew it was going to happen, and now it's official. The Weinstein Company is moving forward with "Scary Movie 5," scheduling it to hit theaters on April 20th, 2012. No word on whether Anna Faris, Regina Hall or director David Zucker will return.

Ever since the fourth installment hit theaters in 2006 and grossed $178 million on a $45 million budget, talks of another film immediately started. But for some reason, nothing ever materialized, until now. And there are plenty of horror films released since 2006 that are waiting to be spoofed.

The Weinstein Company also announced that "Halloween 3D," the third installment in the rebooted franchise started by Rob Zombie, will hit theaters on October 26th, 2012. Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry 3D, My Bloody Valentine) is directing.

The first Scary Movie was great. The second one looked like it was made by a high school AV club. The third was probably the best one and the fourth I don't remember too much from. Wouldn't mind seeing another if Anna Faris and David Zucker returned. As for Halloween 3D? I really couldn't give a flying f*ck about this one. (As usual) The originals were great for what they were and then the reboots were given to someone who had a different agenda other than just paying homage to a classic. The whole hillbilly thing and Michael being a bum really ruined the remakes for me. And what the f*ck was up with his mom hanging out with unicorns haunting him? Guess I might not remember that part correctly, which is one of the worst comments anyone can make about a film. They are supposed the be memorable, and some things in Zombie's movies were, but for the wrong reasons. I would rather watch a clever remake of Season of the Witch than see another bad Michael Myers movie.

What happened to proper satire like Airplane and Hot Shots Where the spoofs were well thought out and the film created jokes of it's own instead of just showing exaggerated pop culture references. The only reason these type of films keep getting made are the thousands of retards who find Lesley Nielsen pissing out of his finger funny. Cinema... the laziest business in the world, why bother putting effort in when there's enough mindless drones giving you money any way.

I didn't mind the 1st Scary Movie, But that wasn't in the same class as Airplane which is by far the funniest of all of those types of movies.

You had some very good actors sending themselves up in that movie, what do you get now a bunch of dopes trying to gross out the audience in every scene.

Thought the third and fourth were funnier than the first and second. None of that sickening 'humor', just stupid gags, some it very old school physical humor like the Three Stooges.

But I agree with Evil: the third Scary Movie was probably the best.

But Halloween 3? More of the trailer park trash *sshole and his sh*tfaced skank bitch wife. No thanks.

Good comment there.

Impressive how this Lussier guy keeps getting work.

Nothing impressive about it.

My Bloody Valentine made over 100 mil at the BO on a 15 mil budget. That is impressive. Drive Angry made most of it's budget back through theatrical sales, and made more through Bluray and DVD purchases, plus Digital Downloads and licensing to cable networks.

As far as the studios are concerned, he's still in the black.

Except, they are all f*cking remakes of movies that previous terrible Scary Movies have already spoofed.

They should have stopped after the first Scary Movie. And I hope with Halloween 3, Angel Myers becomes the killer.
