First Look: "Captain America" USO Costume RevealedSubmit Comment
Today we have two lo-res shots of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in his USO costume performing during a USO show in "Captain America: The First Avenger." In addition to the photos, we also have brand new footage from the movie that appeared on Disney XD. Unfortunately, we only have a terrible recording of it. Check out everything below.

The story will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. His first mission is to stop the Nazi agent called Red Skull.

The new movie is directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman) and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22nd.

It's the same costume they used in the CA-movie from 1990. Marvel really won't pay an extra if they don't have to.

That looks retarded.

^^^ Yeah... Is that that the point? Hehe...

*Sighs*

Correction.

Is that "not" the point?

WTF! It's even worse than the costume that those nerds wear at the comic-con.

Ummm guys? His costume for the USO is SUPPOSE to look bad... This is the 1940's... remember? I actually think that his real suit looks too high tech for this movie.

Its a USO costume for a show. Its not his real armor, and what's so "high tech" about his outfit exactly??? His handgun and shield? Lol, they've been around for centuries.

Isn't he meant to be built up body-wise?
rabid writes:

I don't see anything on his later costume that looks high-tech... Pretty sure they had hemp, leather, denim and kevlar by WW2.

One could say that Hydra has future-tech weapons, but they wouldn't be Hydra if they didn't.
Ranger writes:

@rabid - agreed (although Kevlar (if memory serves) wasn't commercially avail. in vests 'til about the 70's). And anything 'high tech' (looking or otherwise) may have to do with genius Howard Stark having a hand in its creation. So anything such 'tech' would have been way ahead of it's time.
Ranger writes:

re: Kevlar as in avail. to the military undoubtedly much sooner.
rocketman writes:

They had loads of secret stuff in WW2,some of which is still top secret...i was amazed when i found out about Brit spec ops using f*cking night vision equipment over 70 years ago?
minkowski writes:

Yes, hemp, leather and denim hav been around for a while. Hemp has been used in rope-making for centuries. Leather as well. Perhaps longer. Denim was invented in France back in the early 19th century and either reinvented or reintroduced by Strauss circa 1853. Kevlar was invented until 1965 by DuPont, a full two decades after the end of World War 2.0, so no, there was no kevlar then, and if you think about it, it should be obvious.
minkowski writes:

Rocketman: Yes, the Brits had something of an infrared viewer circa 1939, nearly four years before America had a similar device, but that's not the same as saying kevlar was around then when it wasn't possible to synthesize the material using technology from 1940 or so. OTOH, infrared technology could have been built even earlier than 1940 if there had been an impetus to do so.

Here's the device you mentioned:

i love it! it shows anyone who wanted a classic cap costume why it would look ridiculous.
Ranger writes:

I'm wearing a hemp t-shirt today. The elastics around the neck is shot... but the rest of the shirt just won't wear out!

@encore --- yep.
