Tracy Morgan Clarifies Homophobic Comments

Tracy Morgan Clarifies Homophobic CommentsSubmit Comment
During his stand-up performance, Tracy Morgan (Cop Out, "30 Rock") began insulting gay people, stating that being gay is a choice, that he would kill his own son if he found out his son is gay, and that gay kids who get bullied should stop complaining.

Morgan quickly apologized for his comments, but now in an interview with Russell Simmons, the comedian attempted to clear everything up.

"I guess the reason I am successful is because I am so unfiltered. And sometimes as a result I say really stupid sh*t," said Morgan. "The truth is if I had a gay son, I would love him just as much as if he was straight. I might have to try to love even more because I know of the difficulty that he would have in society."

He added: "I am deeply sorry for the comments I made. What I am most sad about is the comments I made about kids and bullying. I would never want any young person to think that I wasn't on their side."

This is just like that time everyone hated that blond supermodel chick for saying marriage should only be between man and woman. Except that hate was totally uncalled for because she was young and hot. Tracy however, not so much.

I think its about high damn time everyone gets thicker skin if your gonna make it in this world ,and who cares what he said or thinks he has the 1st Amendment and he is a comedian ... sort of .

Succesful? Hmm. No. Screaming every word he says because he thinks the audience is deaf is not a way of being succesful.

Regardless if he was in suckfests like Cop Out, he's probably more successful than you. And honestly, its nice that he apologized, but seriously he shouldn't have to. He's a comedian. His work deals with mockery. If you don't like it don't listen simple as that.

He's a f*cking idiot. Always been a f*cking idiot. And if you give half a sh*t about what the man says then you're a f*cking idiot.

So he'd love a gay son more than a straight son?!

OK bro... that's fine, but carrying your p*ssy back-peddling, pendulum bullsh*t too far the other way. Love your son regardless, but not more (or less) if he's gay or straight.

Does he ever think before he speaks?

His damage controls conjures up images of 9/11 in my head.

PS: the reason you're so successful Tracy, is because you're not. Arrogant dipsh*t.

Sam Kinison was the king of 'unfiltered' and he got away with it and got his whole audience crying with laughter.

I'm just sayin!

He makes jokes of: Jesus, the church, necrophilia-homosexuals, Vietnamese, crazy bitches, and NO ONE had a problem with his act (even had 'The Hef' in the audience). Of course this was like '87 when people had thicker skin. Fu*kin pussies today!

@Ranger-remember the good ol' days where people who snitched or bitched about something were the ones who actually got in trouble? Especially the women. Now a days they cry and say they've been "sexually assaulted" or "no means no."

"I guess the reason I am successful is because I am so unfiltered"

THAT'S how he opens up his apology!?!?!?

@johnny - I hear ya.

@Damon - Tracy isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Some people are just too damn sensitive. Next thing we're gonna read about is Tracy Morgan getting sued for his homophobic comments and then he's off to Rehab.

I suppose Eddie Murphy is gonna have to come out and apologize for his comments he made 30 years ago.

Can see two ways on this:

1. IF it was a joke for a stand-up act, then yeah, ppl shouldn't get mad cuz it's comedy. Like Louis C.K. telling his "faggot" or "n*gger" jokes,

or

2. IF he really DID mean those comments, man the f*ck up and admit you meant it. Don't apologize just cuz media and ppl get upset.

Hey the gay community isn't out to get any comedian that tells a gay joke. If they were we'd have NO comedians left. They're after Tracy because he wasn't being funny that night. If he's not trying to be funny then he's not doing his job as a comedian and should be open to the same scrutiny as everyone else. A good comedian could have gotten through this situation during his act on the same night. Tracy's just not that good of a comedian.

I hate when people speak their minds only to recant later under the internal duress of moral and social interrogation.

I still can't beleive they put the word comedian and Tracy Morgan in the same sentence.
LastActionHero writes:

The only reason he is doing any of this is because he wants to keep his job on 30 Rock. He is comedian, he can say whatever the hell he wants.
