"Spider-Man" Producer Laura Ziskin Dead at 61

"Spider-Man" Producer Laura Ziskin Dead at 61Submit Comment
Laura Ziskin, producer of "Pretty Woman," "What About Bob?" and all four "Spider-Man" films, in addition to being a driving force behind the Stand Up to Cancer research movement and the first woman to produce the Academy Awards telecast alone, has died on Sunday from breast cancer. She was 61 years old.

With the "Spider-Man" films, Ziskin has overseen one of the most successful film franchises in history. "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2" have grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide, and "Spider-Man 3" became the highest-grossing film in Sony's history with a worldwide take of more than $890 million. A rebooted "Spider-Man" film, also produced by Ziskin, just wrapped shooting in May for release next year.

She also produced such films as "The Doctor," "Hero," "To Die For," "As Good As It Gets" and "Stealth." She was also nominated for three Emmy Awards - for her Oscar shows and for the 2002 HBO telefilm "Dinner With Friends."

And she'll never have to endure the Spiderman reboots. Maybe there is a god after all.

At least she can avoid watching the reboot and Denis Leary trying to pull off a dramatic role.

Ummm... don't mean to bitch (actually I do), but I thought I had a pretty nice RIP posted here that's gone AWOL. Little heavy on the edit button there WP. I'm sad, and going to kill a kitten. Let that be on your head!
