Do people actually buy these games? If you thought videogame-adaptations was bad, that's nothing movie-adaptation. Not one has turned OK.

First, Did they ask "Inception" for their film score.

Second, Game looks very good.

i remember the lord of the rings games based on the movies were entertaining, there hasnt been any movie apdatpation games which have memorable since then

coolguy- Return of the king on ps2 was badass with gandalf on multiplayer tearing sh*t up with his staff and sword. The Warriors video game on ps2 was the bollocks as well but that was more of a prequel. The reason video/game adaptations are so bad is because they spend all the money on other parts of marketing so the budget they're left with for a video game means they can only afford sh*t designers that no ones heard of.

I think Ubisofts "King Kong" was worthwhile, but yeah most of them are medicore at best.

batman begins was probably the best movie adaptation I've played

@DaveThePhotoGuy: "Game looks good"... Not a gamer I guess...

@sc_kg: Mediocre? You're making them blush.

@Kill-the-director: Yeah, stealing from Metal Gear, Splinter Cell and Deux Ex and NOT adding anything new or at least imaginative it's a great move.

The game looks like a lot of fun.
The best movie-tie-in game in my opinion would be a tie between Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.

Rabid: Dude I respect your comic book knowledge 'cause I've read your posts but those two games are awful. The only and I mean the ONLY game that actually offers something and it's really fun to play is Enter The Matrix, yeah, a past generation title but it's great, packed with actual cinematics from the movie and great story for Niobe and Ghost. Cheers.

sure it's a batman: arkham asylum rip off, but it's a damn good one. also, why doesn't bucky have a thing cloth covering his face to protect his identity?

The best movie-based video-game is GOLDENEYE. It is not even close. The game is still held in high regard to this day as not just the best video-game based on a movie, but one of the best video-games of all time, period.

What's worse, videogames based on movies, or movies based on videogames?

And that was terrible. How the f*ck is Captain America a superhero? He has a f*cking shield. All the bad guys come up at him very conveniently in the same direction, so he can use his stupid shield to block their attacks. Not one of the them thinks to attack from behind? These men are military, yet they have absolutely no sense of combat strategy?

And can he dodge bullets? Is he invulverable to them? Why don't the villains surround the *sshole and fire? And yet every time someone caps a round, Captain America somehow ducks or dodges or throws a punch disabling the gunman.

Then he uses his shield to make a small earthquake. Yeah, ok. That happens how? And consequently all the bad guys go flying in stupid slo-mo.

And he can dogde plasma discharges somehow. He can also make his silly shield bounce around bad guys like the silver round projectile in a pinball game.

Captain America is simply overused and overextended. He was invented as a wartime icon to give Americans a symbol of masculine cconfidence as a representation of the war effort to defeath the Nazis. He was never meant to take on the world in superhuman form, and he was never meant to be Batman or Superman because he doesn't have endless technology to make him more than a man, nor is he an alien strengthened by solar rays. He's just some guy made stronger through experimentation. And he has a goofy shield.

The game looks like sh*t. Lots of showcasing of cliche and preposterous fight scenes taken from a number of films along with facial animation straight out of 2004.

I wouldn't play this game to delay my executionin the electric chair.

I'm guessing that you're confusing Wolverine Origins with the prior Sega game. The Origins game was rated one of the best games of the year. Spider-Man 2 was one of the best selling games of all time. It topped the sales of Goldeneye by a few million.

Wolverine origins was surprisingly good. Surprisingly violent as well.

I'll hold out hope that the movie might be decent. This game looks stupid though.
minkowski writes:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_Origins:_Wolverine_(video_game)#Reception

It barely aggregates 79%, and that's top form. Even lower on the consoles.

One of the best games of the year? Doubt it. Save that appellation for games rated 90% and above. But I guess it depends where you draw the line. Top 10 for 2009? Nope. Top 100? Maybe.

2009 was the year of Arkham Asylum and Dragon Age btw.

Really a stretch there rabid.

@ Triggax
I was unprepared for the gory kills in the game. Had some great bits of X-history too that tied the comics further into the movies. And the best easter egg of all was finding out that John Wraith was the father of Nightcrawler.
The major reason it lacked in sales compared to Arkham Asylum was an 18+ rating, but I doubt anyone who played it would ever argue against aiming it at adults.

For sure Goldeneye was a great game but it ows it's success to the multiplayer which hardly follow the movie itself. Worlverine has never been a good game, old and new gen, get over it. And finally, remember a little game from 2009 called Uncharted Among Thieves? No? Well thanks for playing.
triggax writes:

I never.had the patience for arkham. Not much of a gamer. I'll take a good ol fashioned game of shuffleboard over any video game.
Sinestro writes:

That Wolverine game got decent scores of 7-7.5. Probably not in the top 50 best reviewed games of that year. Hardly a great game, or a very good one, although it was decent. And Spider-Man 2 sold like five millions over three platforms. Six if you count the hand-held ports. While Goldeneye sold around eight or more on just one system.

There have been some good games based on movies like Chronicles of Ridd*ck, The Warriors, The Thing, that arcade Jurassic Park game, the original Batman and yes, the Wolverine game, but nothing stands against Goldeneye. It's just a gaming classic. You don't have to throw the "movie game" phrase in there to call it great. It was so good, they even tried to make a sequel of the game, and a remake. Not because the sequel of the movie it was based on came out, but because the game was just that beloved, and that good!
minkowski writes:

People still play Goldeneye to this day. Classic game. Wolverine? Spiderman? Not so much. Passing fads.

The Thomas Jane Punisher game was the sh*t! ^^ Only cuz the whole story followed the comics and the actual character so dead on.
