Trailer: Rhys Ifans is Hook in "Peter Pan" PrequelSubmit Comment
Today we have the trailer for the upcoming British TV movie "Neverland," which is a prequel to "Peter Pan" and stars Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) as James Hook and Charlie Rowe (Pirate Radio) as Peter Pan. Check out the trailer below.

Plot: Peter and his gang are mysteriously transported from London into an enchanting parallel world where time stands still and an adventure awaits like nothing you've ever seen before. In Neverland, no one ever ages and lost souls have been plucked out of time. The lost boys are soon caught in a war with the man who will become Captain Hook and change the fate of this mystical land forever.

The movie also stars Anna Friel (Land of the Lost) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinker Bell, and Bob Hoskins as Smee, the character he played in Steven Spielberg's "Hook." It is set to air in July on Sky Movies.

Did not look as bad as expected (outside the aligator).
Ifans reminds me of young David Warner.

Is like Star Wars Prequel before Anakin became Vader.... What I don┤t understand why in all prequels, heroes and villains are always friends and then became mortal enemies.... There┤s no way to put aside this situation and show us that before they became icons in each side they were mean to be what they are┐? Really┐?

Sorry, why were they in America in the first place.

They weren't in america were they he just saw a mystical sunny land and assumed. Talk about ruin the mystery of the whole mystery we don't wanna see how Cap'n hook became hook I thought he was just there infinitely in neverland. Party poopers

Because Johnnyb no one can betray you as deeply as a friend. In this insistence Hook is actually his mentor. I do get what you are saying though but then they would have to focus on two different individuals during the same movie skipping back and forth until they clashed against one another. Not a bad idea and it would break up the monotony of present movies.

@ yeLLowfLaSh:

I think the idea is possible it could be a hit-miss but is possible... I will visualize more in a way of envy than friendship in that case.....

Well, if the Neverland gig doesn't work out, Captain Hook can always get a job performing abortions and Peter can go back to plying children with ice cream and quaaludes.

Looks neat, actually, but I swear this seems a little too close to Peter and the Starcatchers and yet there's no mention that this is inspired by that novel. Very strange!
rabid writes:

I was thinking the same thing Mobius. Either it's heavily influenced by it or the script started out as an adaptation.

@Farridan They don't start in America, they are in London, England at first. Probably thought it was America because hes never seen any place like this in England.

I can see where both yeLLowfLaSh and Johnnyb are coming from: setting up a betrayal of a best friend to become your mortal enemy does seem like a great character arc... if only every other studio wasn't doing the exact same thing! Did anyone else feel like they were watching another trailer for 'X-Men: First Class' when they saw the words, "Before they were enemies, they were friends"?
