Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn Re-Team for "Insane Laws" ComedySubmit Comment
Universal Pictures is in talks with Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn for "The Insane Laws" comedy, which will be the directing debut of "The Break-Up" writer Jeremy Garelick.

In the movie, Bateman and Vaughn play longtime best friends, who've shared everything, from college to the time both got married and had kids at the same time. Cut to when those kids are away at college, and, unbeknownst to their parents, falling in love. The best friend relationship is sorely tested when the daughter of Vaughn's character gets pregnant.

The project is still in early stages, but the studio is planning to have in production by the fall.

I feel sorry for these guys, both extremely talented comedians with perfect timing. Vaughn is the improv king but they end up in sh*t films. I watched Couples retreat the other day for the first time and I couldn't believe how bad it was. Loved Bateman in Arrested Development he just needs more clever dead pan roles like that. Vaughn needs a film well written enough, with a supporting cast talented enough for him to go off script and do what he does best.

@Cinema

I know what you mean. Just like in 'The Dilema', a brilliant cast (bar Channing Tatum), but ended up being one of the most pathetic pieces of crap ever. Bateman always has potential, he just needs to show it.

This sounds like utter sh*t!!

It will make millions.

mash- Yep comedies are going down the same route as horrors did 20 years ago. I blame script writers.

@Cinema - well said. Vaughn is the improv king, and Bateman surprised me in Smokin' Aces.

I didn't mind 'Couples Retreat' that much, because... well, of the women in it. It could have sucked more sh*t than DrWatson in the bowling alley parking lot earning rent money from his dad's drunken bowling team... but the women made it worth watching.
