"The Wolfman" Reboot to Begin Filming This Fall

"The Wolfman" Reboot to Begin Filming This FallSubmit Comment
Back in March, we reported that Universal Pictures was working on a direct-to-DVD sequel to Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman," which grossed only $140 million globally on a $150 million budget. And has a lousy 33% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

At the time, the studio was in talks with Michael Tabb (Ring Around the Rosie) to write the script. Moviehole has now learned that the script is being re-written to be an original film that will share a link to the original 1941 film.

The new movie is currently being called "Werewolf" and is set to begin filming this fall. Universal is speaking to directors and will begin casting shortly.

Bencio Del Toro and Hugo Weaving was the only best things in the 2010 version.

Benicio Del Toro is a great actor but he was a sleep the whole time making The Wolfman. It's the worst performance he's ever given. The absolute definition of phoning in a performance. Unfortunately, Anthony Hopkins, who obviously is also a great actor, wasn't much better. The whole movie just sucked which was disappoint because of the cast and I usually like Joe Johnston's movies (The Rocketeer, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III, October Sky, ect.)

Why would Universal Pictures bother funding a straight-to-dvd film?

Keep Del Toro's mumbling ass out of it and you might do alright.

Make up a new monster. If they could make up a new one every week in the 50's they can surely do it now. And I don't mean a new giant lizard either.

I know Mink was right, that movie's failure means reboot and success means sequel but I never expect the reboot would happen this soon.

i love it when they reboot the reboot. Nothing says good film making like last minute money based descisions!

The only good part was Hugo Weavings moustache. However, if they had played "Who let the dogs out?" during the final battle, it would have been the best fight ever.

Soon they will be planning reboots for films that haven't started principal production yet

i blame writers 90 percent of the time on how a movie turns out...10 percent of the time performances disappoint you...take spiderman 3 for instance, would it have been more watchable if they took out all that jazz crap and replaces topher grace as venom with somebody else, and have him not die at the end?...i would like to think so, but even if that was changed there'd still be problems...i liked wolfman to a certain extent, but it couldn't have used a better storyline...and then obviously there's the fact that people just get tired of the same story NO MATTER how different you make it or if some better actor brings more out of it than could ever be brought out of it, THEY STILL ARE TIRED OF IT
