"Salt" Sequel in Development with Angelina Jolie

"Salt" Sequel in Development with Angelina JolieSubmit Comment
Sony Pictures is officially moving forward with a sequel to "Salt" and has brought back Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen, The Recruit) to begin writing the script.

Angelina Jolie is attached to return as Evelyn Salt, the CIA agent who spent the first movie running for her life after being outed as a Russian spy.

Phillip Noyce has previously revealed that he won't return to direct the sequel. "If there ever is a sequel, better its directed by someone with a completely fresh take," he said.

The first film hit theaters last year and went on to gross $293 million in worldwide ticket sales on a $110 million budget.

Ah, more cinematic salt for the wounds, I see.

Hollywood's motto must be "if it makes money, make a sequel. If it doesn't, make a reboot".

She better start packing on a few pound before i even consider watching this for sexy action. Skinny spiritualist.

I guess they want to see how much more preposterous they can get with this movie

At least the first one was entertaining I guess...

@ minkowski...i firmly believe your first post...how long they've been following that motto? probably a long time, just not so hashed out and everywhere like it used to be in the 90s and further back all the way to the creation of film...as for a sequel to this, i honestly wouldn't mind, seriously there's worse movies that aren't even worth the thought of watching...i mean the world would have been just fine WITHOUT films like twilight, the karate kid remake, harry potter even...why else are books and comics the only things left that movies are made from that have a single ounce of originality left? because nobody wants to take the time to actually write their own story...that or hollywood only signs things that make money...but that's the risk people take with a good film...whether it performs well or not at least the people watching it give a true honest opinion and eventually just grows into something bigger until that big mistake, where they take things too far and start navigating away from what they wrote in the first place, and then they make sequels/remakes out of it...it's like in hollywood's mind, every piece of art HAS to be a franchise, even if it's a dying franchise...at least all movies aren't like that thankfully and still remain stand alone films, innerspace, the abyss, flight of the navigator even...all those kinds of films portrayed their very moment in time...remaking those too soon only kills it or makes the original that much better...speaking of which is fantastic four still considered for a remake?...because if it is, i won't be watching it...if they can't get it right the first time they can't get it right at all...especially the fact that there was nothing wrong with chris evans as the human torch, sadly they will replace him with someone who THEY think can do a better portrayal...that's when hollywood becomes more than pathetic

@ minkowski:

Well thatīs the law of Hollywood, man... Top Box Office.... Sequel or Big Flop ..... Reboot. I hope also the Hollywood have a law that says if you donīt know how to act or accept you sex symbol stardom then just do porn!!!!!

Cmon really. 65 lb Anorexic Angelina Jolie jumping vehicles, beating up trained men 3 and 4 times her size. What a realistic film. Btw the story sucked too. Why doesn't she do the world a favor and keep not eating and doing heroin and shrink down to nothing and just f*cking DIE!

Salt was a pretty great action flick and the first film where Jolie was believable as a hardass (they hid her broomstick arms for most of the film). I'm definitely interested in where the plot goes from part 1. The dvd's sold pretty well, so i knew it would only be a matter of time before they changed their minds and did a sequel.

I thought Salt was a bore but I should have known that a sequel would be in the works when her character escaped at the end.

Must be nice having spill proof lips. They get you sequels to sh*tty movies.

The real question we should be asking: Will the sequel be titled "Pepper" or better yet "Salt n Pepper"?

I love you angie but please spend your time doing something other then Salt 2. You and liev have talent, but the first movie was boring. Make Wanted 2 instead.
