"The Hobbit" Announces Titles and Release DatesSubmit Comment
Back in March, we reported that New Line Cinema registered two film titles for "The Hobbit" prequels, including "An Unexpected Journey" and "There and Back Again."

Now, the studio has officially announced that the first film is titled "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and will be released on December 14th, 2012. The second installment is titled "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" and will be released on December 13th, 2013. Both will be available in conventional and 3D theaters.

The films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings." The adventure of "The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

So we'll be left waiting for the second one forever.

if its converted 3d then I'll pass it and watch the 2d version. Converted movies suck balls. I'm not that much of a 3d fan anyway. Wish they would bring out more movies in both versions.

@kane:

cuz the world ends, right? If you think so maybe you can get on board with Erich von Däneken and his Alien friends. hate that guy.....

Peter Jackson's doing these right? So, no, I doubt he's that stupid to shoot in 2D and then convert them to 3D. He'd have to be a jake to that.

And von Daniken didn't predict an apocalypse, that's more Whitley Strieber's stupid game.

Peter Jackson is shooting in 3D, not converting.

I heard Jackson plans on doing the films in Crayola Crayon and then converting them to film one frame at a time.

That's the book Che's dad used to read to him every night before going to bed.

By "used to read" I mean he used to sodomize him and give him arabian goggle before bed.

3D sucks balls. I went to see Thor and it literally ruined the whole experience.

Anyhow, great news. Lookin forward to this one.
