Thomas Jane Too White for Sylvester Stallone's "Headshot"

Posted: May 30th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Thomas Jane Too White for Sylvester StalloneSubmit Comment
Back in April, it was reported that Thomas Jane (The Mist, Punisher) has signed on to star alongside Sylvester Stallone in "Headshot" crime thriller, to be directed by Walter Hills (48 Hrs, The Warriors).

Filming was set to begin this month, but Warner Bros is now looking to replace Jane with a more "ethnic" actor. The studio believes that with a minority in the role, the film will be able to reach a wider audience, which results in bigger box office. Both Stallone and Hill would like to keep Jane, but that may not happen.

In "Headshot," Stallone's character teams with a young NYPD detective (Jane) in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the back alleys of New Orleans all the way to Washington, DC. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.

I hate that studios always end up having their way. I was damn excited that Jane was working with Stallone.

Every change this movie makes makes me want to see it even less. Wayne Kramer would have made the movie incredibly gritty and very violent, but Stallone, whose most recent Rambo installment averages 3 on screen deaths per minute, found his ideas to be too violent. Now Jane, one of the most underrated actors, gets the boot because he's a white badass rather than a non-white badass. Next its gonna be rated PG-13

Nice to see Hollywood is keeping racism alive.

There have been all black movies.
There have been all white movies.
And color was NEVER a deciding factor for me to decide if I wanted to see it or not.

Maybe they should can Sly and get Nolte and Murphy for this one.

Should anyone at Warner Bros. read this... French my pouch!

If Jane is booted, I say Eddie Murphy.

Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy and Walter Hill = 80's Epicness.

isn't that racist. where's the aclu.
bandolero999 writes:

I don't know who the minority is it should be a middle eastern or an Asian.Black people don't even think about it the presidents allready half black and 30% work and the rest are causing chaos in Detroit,Oakland,Flint Michigan.

Boy have times changed in America

Hispanics only a few are good and George Lopez don't count he's stereotypical as f*ck too Mexican for me

johnny_boy writes:

So people won't watch this cuz there isn't an ethnic person. Isn't that a form of racism on the "ethnics" part. I bet if a white guy wouldn't watch a Tyler Perry movie cuz there weren't enough white folks in it, that guy would look like a stupid racist *sshole. f*ckin society

Bandolero, you are preaching to the choir, brother.
Damon242 writes:

How does an obviously-forced pairing, based on race, reach a wider audience?

lol it would be funny if it ended up that the audience was too offended that the minority in the film must take lessons from a white person, treating it like a microcosm for society, and therefore boycotted the film.
Damon242 writes:

KKK-high-five, WB!

Make it PG-rated, all rainbows and unicorns, tackos-sh*tting-icecream family fun.

With Jaden Smith cast opposite Stallone.

Joking. Though the plot of this movie sounds rather up his alley with all the straight to dvd flicks he's been doing lately.

SACdaddy writes:

Lol this is what happens when the bottom line becomes more important quality. This isn't as much a racist issue as it is a cheap marketing ploy, just like Hwood's reasoning for casting white people in Asian roles like Dragonball Z, The Last Airbender, or most recently the Akira film. It never really seems to work that well so I don't know why they keep pushing it.

I've always said, if you want your film virtually critic proof, make the lead actor a black, handicapped, lesbian, muslim, single-parent drug-addicted sexually abused child. Then, no problemo.

But the real issue is why in the world would WB think black people wouldn't see a film with no black lead actors? Hmmmmm.

And Bando, bro, good for yoou on Lopez, but to be honest, I have absolutely nothing against latinos and latinas from anywhere, the Mexicano motherf*ckers just need to stop crawling across the f*cking border. And I would say that if it was Trig sneaking in from Canada.

"make the lead actor a black, handicapped, lesbian, muslim, single-parent, drug-addicted sexually abused child."

remove muslim and drug-addicted, add overweight and pregnant and you've got "Precious" and hords of critics crying tears of joy.
