Columbia Pictures has picked up the US distribution rights to "Kill Bin Laden," to be written and directed by "The Hurt Locker" team of Mark Boal and Kathryn Bigelow.

The new film focuses on the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, which culminated in his death earlier this month during a raid on his compound in Pakistan.

"With the death of Osama bin Laden, this film could not be more relevant," said Sony Pictures. "Kathryn and Mark have an outstanding perspective on the team that was hunting the most wanted man in the world. Mark is second to none as an investigative journalist, and Kathryn will bring the same kind of compelling authenticity and urgency that distinguished 'The Hurt Locker' and made that film so memorable and special."

Production is slated to begin this summer and Joel Edgerton (The Thing, Animal Kingdom) is already on board to star. The film will be released in the fourth quarter of 2012.

I wonder how patriotic they'll make the end, will they show bin laden reaching for a knife or whatever bull sh*t they said happen or will it end in them kicking the door down, his kid crying his wife screaming then they pop him in the head with Obamas screaming "FINISH HIM!"

It will be in tasteful slo-mo with some heart wrenching melancholic music playing over the top...and i bet we don't actually see Bin get shot.

Sony's desperately looking to make some controversy and to stack some academy awards.

On the other hand, I still have my doubts about Kathrin Bigelow as a director. The Hurt Locker was kind of lucky for her, with the cast and crew fitting the plot pretty well.

Kill bin Laden? He's already dead. How about Kill Islam, so I can at least enjoy the film out of a sense of wishful thinking.

Ha didnt take long for the f*cking weirdos in hollyweird to become more parasitic. I am wondering who this bitch had to blow to even end up in Hollyweird, must have been Matt Damon. Go make a movie about how America was conned into electing a racist African that is as dumb as a box of rocks. Leave the SEAL community alone you friggen frog hog~!
