"Pirates of the Caribbean 4" Breaks Box Office RecordSubmit Comment
The $250 million "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" hit theaters, grossing $90 million at the domestic box office. Disney was hoping to land somewhere closer to the $100 million mark, but is still happy with the results.

The film earned another $256.3 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $346.4 million, which is the fourth-best global opening of all time and the biggest international opening ever.

The impressive debut numbers are still less than the last two installments. "Dead Man's Chest" opened to $135.6 million and grossed $1.07 billion in worldwide ticket sales. "At World's End" took in $114.7 million during its opening weekend and went on to gross $963 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, "Bridesmaids" held strong in its second weekend to come in second place. The R-rated comedy grossed an estimated $21.1 million for a total of $58.9 million in its first 10 days. The film cost $32.5 million to make.

"Thor" ended up in third place with $15.5 million, bringing its worldwide total to $383 million. The movie, however, has yet to make its $150 million budget back domestically.

Thought it was good better than the last 2 but the last 2 was better money spent than a lot of what holy-wood has been putting out

All new characters except for 3 of them

I guess that means more POTC.

i still impress with "Bridesmaids" held strong in its second weekend to come in second place.

It's chick movie and The R-rated!!!!

This further illustrates my point that there are a lot of dumb-f*cks out there in movie-land. The POTC movies are pure sh*t! Making more of them proves nothing except the fact that waves of movie-goers like this sort of sh*t. I am not one of them.

"Pirates of the Caribbean 4" Breaks Box Office Record!

Big f*cking deal! And they have already confirmed two more films in this series.

*SIGH*

hmm..probably the last harry potter movie will have the biggest weekend box office this summer.

just think disney would have only earned half that if it was only in 2D.
Adamtheflash writes:

Unfortunately I contributed to the record....this movie was crap. Whatever appeal these movies ever had is now gone. Save your money for other summer movies....

Really it was released at the perfect time...3 wks after Fast Five and 2 wks after Thor...Once word of mouth gets out, that this is straight Bullsh*t, this movie will tank!!

Thor was a good movie better than daredevil,blade trinity,fantastic four,ghost rider.So there's hopes for a second one.
jikae writes:

I thought the movie was entertaining. Mostly, because it was more pirate-y action than the previous where they mostly dealt with mystical stuff.

*SPOILER ALERT*

What happens to the clergy guy dude at the end? Does he just die?

Maybe the people who bought tickets to see this had hoped the rapture was real, so they wouldn't have had to see the rest of it ...

oh well, dumb f*cks

@Kratos

Maybe Rob was watching Dylan Dog and getting inspired on how well that insepid piece of digital sh*t defecated all over its audience.
