Stephen King's "Carrie" Getting a Remake

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Big Love," "Glee"), the playwright and comic book writer who was brought on to save the Broadway play "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," has been hired by MGM and Screen Gems to write the script for the "Carrie" remake.

Based on the Stephen King thriller, the story is about a telekinetic teenager who gets pushed too far at the prom and wreaks havoc on her fellow high school students. King's best-selling book was turned into the 1976 film that starred Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Amy Irving and Piper Laurie as the repressive mother.

Aguirre-Sacase will write a version that is more faithful to the King book than the earlier movie. He has previously worked with King on "The Stand" graphic novel.

good one MGM, hire the guy who wrote in the dangerous stunts for that musical and let him do the same for a CARRIE film. Genius amirite

hmm so it's not the original writer?

ok... well...

.. holy sh*t google Stephen King and take a good look at his mug, it's as f*cked up as any of his novels

Big Love/Glee writer brought on to write the script for the Carrie remake.

No, that sentence just doesn't work. Try harder.

The original my not be faithful to the book but it is a great movie with quite a few fans so remaking this is a big f*cking mistake.

Interesting. wonder if it'll be pg-13?

They already did a remake or mini series or something.

Has hollywood officially run out of ideas?

I'm sure there are other novels that can be produced.

Not a bad idea at all. I still like the original though.

God, they're gonna f*ck it up. They always f*ck this sh*t up. Remember Prom Night ? Black Christmas ? My Bloody Valentine 3-D ?

This is just another Hollywood f*ckup that doesn't realize it was about a telekenetic teenager getting pissed off because her boyfriend didn't give two sh*ts about her prom, so she goes off the rag and menstruates over all over her classmates ... literally.

I like the other link where Stephen King talks about the movie being better than the book... so this guy wants to mirror the book more closely. OK.

No one can top Piper Laurie. "They're all gonna laugh at you"

@ Dre-EL writes: No, that was Carrie 2: The Rage, which wasn't all the rage. Not a bad rental though, but it didn't touch the first.
