Johnny Depp's "Dark Shadows" Plot Revealed

Warner Bros has unveiled a details plot synopsis for "Dark Shadows," which is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, and Chloe Moretz. Production started this week.

Plot: In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Depp) has the world at his feet - or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy... until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard (Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis (Haley), and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote).

Did anyone else eyes g;aze right the f*ck over reading that so-called paperback short story of a synopsis? I read something about darkness, vampires and Johnny Depp and then I knew without reading any more I was looking at a Tim Burton film.

Oh, and I am so f*cking surprised that whore, ahem, lady, Carter is also in the film. Shocked really. f*cking shocked right out of my bloody knickers.

Yes a two sentence synopsis would have done much better.

Not a term paper

Always good to see Jonny Lee Miller onscreen.

@mink - Pretty much. The plot synopsis might as well scream at us, "TIM BURTON WILL BE DIRECTING THIS MOVIE NO MATTER WHAT."

Tim can you do a f*cking movie without Carter and Depp? I double dare you!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, little annoyed that he has the whole family in it.

But on saying that..it does sound intruiging.

The whole family part seems dull. But great to see Jackie back on big things. Looking foward to this.

Eva Green playing a villian? It's my dream come true.

Another one, Burton? Is Eva Green showing her talents in this? I might watch it for that.

Uh yeah, that was kind of the basis of the first 2 Dark Shadows series as well. I think this site makes crap up to be able to post things most of the time.

The only difference in that synopsis is Angelique burrying Barnabas, when it was actually his father. And I'm sure they're just dishing out the plot.... considering it's said to be being done a bit differently than before...

Oh and the family part isn't dull... this family is truly cursed! This is the series that made vampries, witches werewolves and stuff very main stream. I hope they didn't ditch the ghost of his sister... or take satan out of the boy lol

Depp and Burton have been talking about this for the past 4 years. Dark Shadows was a childhood obsession for Depp and this is a pet project of his. I, personally think it seems very interesting and I hope they take down the same path as Ed Wood, one of my favorite films. I've been doing a lot of research on this one lately. http://www.squidoo.com/darkshadowsmovie
