Keanu Reeves Turns Down "Akira" Film

Keanu Reeves Turns Down "Akira" FilmSubmit Comment
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Keanu Reeves was in talks to play Kaneda, the gang leader in the upcoming live-action "Akira" film. Warner Bros was hoping that having Reeves on board would better its chances of getting another A-lister to take the role of Tetsuo, the best friend.

JoBlo has now learned that Reeves has officially turned down the role, which will likely make many fans very happy. Warners quickly released a statement addressing allegations that the project, which has a budget of roughly $140 million and has Albert Hughes (The Book of Eli) attached to direct, may be in trouble.

"Production on 'Akira' has not halted or been shut down, as the film has not yet been greenlit and is still very much in the development stage," said the studio. "The exploratory process is crucial to a project of this magnitude, and we will continue to sculpt our approach to making the best possible film."

I think like other Akira is one of those stories that never was meant to be a film. Even with the animation film, personally it felts too short in compare with the graphic novel. Too much is omitted and it fell short to the climax in the end. And know Hollywood is trying to milk this one... Happy with Reeves didnīt take the role cause is not for him. But also a little concern how they gonna take this one in live action. Hughes is not the man for this job. They should be looking someone with more experience and extraordinary cinematography like Scott, Jackson, Spielberg or Nolan... Akira if it makes to the live action it still will felt short.... The plot and the recreation of the situation from Japan to another country impossible to do it in another place. No way!!!!

Akira wasn't groundbreaking. You're thinking of Rosie O Donnell.

Here's what noted Star Trek homosexual had to say about Akira, and how he thinks whites playing asians is ok but blacks doing white roles is absolutely necessary to maintain cosmic order.

I now say, make the entire film full of whies just to piss off the pansy asian.

Whites. And I got the page link from Wiki. They have gay links on there apparently. One of them offered me five bucks to give me a blow job, but you never know if you'll get a virus from a website so I declined. I mean, just look at this place.
