"Salt" Director to Remake "Bloodsport"Submit Comment
Phillip Noyce (Salt, Patriot Games) is set to direct a remake of Jean Claude Van-Damme's 1988 film "Bloodsport," from a script by Robert Mark Kamen (Gladiator, The Transporter, The Karate Kid).

The story will follow an American who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan and gets involved in a martial arts contest.

The original film grossed $11 million domestically and spawned several sequels, most of which went straight to video.

Bloodsport.

It'll star Lohan while she straddling the gauze.

Come on Hollywood should stop remaking classics and do more movie video game adaptions for example like Metal Gear Solid or Halo.

What's next ET with Justin Bieber.

Yeah, cause we all know how successful video game adaptions are.

No thanks. And it won't be Statham because they'll likely look for an American actor, unless Statham is somehow suddenly American.

Love to see Scott Adkins in it.

Salt director to remake a crappy Van Damme movie

I guess Brazil is the new trend since they made Fast Five there.

Just put a mixed martial artist like Randy Couture,Brock lesnar

Knowing Hollywood they'll put Channing tatum so the fags and girls will go watch it

Okay this movie was based on the true story of Frank Dux. Why the f*ck are they going to ruin the f*cking plot. Brazil!?! f*ck you Hollywood. And I don't care what any one says Van Damme will always be bad ass to me.

"The story will follow an American who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan and gets involved in a martial arts contest."

OK USA!!!

Lol, does this director even care that Bloodsport was based on a real person (Frank Dux) and somewhat true story? If they take the story out of context and use a different lead character, then this is technically not a remake at all. Its just another installment in the Bloodsport franchise that has NOTHING to do with the original.

When will Hwood learn that we loved these movies for their cheese and cult appeal not their quality? Most people that liked Bloodsport were young enough at the time not to care about the actual quality of the film. We just liked this new French guy (from Belgium) who talked funny and had an awesome spinning back kick. We liked the huge Asian badguy who was always flexing his titties and dropping oneliners like "YOUR NEXT". And of course we loved Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds getting his head crushed by this Asian badass. You take all of that out of the film and you've got nothing. Remaking Bloodsport is more useless than tits on a bull. Next they'll want to remake Above the Law :(

I'm with Mink in a different comment section about originality... It dies since the Atari2600
technoreaper writes:

Seriously, NO.

Nothing can ever top the original Bloodsport. No one asked for this remake. Get a life.

"Remaking Bloodsport is more useless than tits on a bull."

That would make it a cow, essentially.
