NBC Explains Why "Wonder Woman" Was Not Picked Up

NBC Explains Why "Wonder Woman" Was Not Picked UpSubmit Comment
Warner Bros had a lot of trouble finding a network interested in their "Wonder Woman" TV series. But NBC stepped up and took on the challenge. A very high-profile production got underway and a pilot episode was eventually put together. Unfortunately, when NBC reviewed everything, it refused to pick-up the series.

Entertainment Weekly now reached out to the network to find out what happened. "I hate to disappoint anybody. I know there are legions of fans of the original show," said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. "They made a really fine pilot and Adrianne Palicki did a fantastic job. You look at what you have, what you need, and it just didn't seem to fit in with what we were doing. We did what was best for the schedule."

EW went on to ask if part of the problem was the negative reaction fans had to the costume. "I was surprised there was such an uproar," Greenblatt replied. "But that didn't have anything to do with whether the show got picked up. I love that it got so much attention. All that engagement from people whether it was positive or negative was good. And she did ultimately have these little hot pants."

And now we'll never get to see them.

Yeah, the uproar about the pants is the reason this got the boot. The plot alone made me laugh, but not in a good way. This series was never meant to be. The original worked, but that was in a different time where cheesiness was accepted.

I just can't imagine any version of this show where it's successful even if she ditched the costume like smallville. Who thought this would work? How did it even leave the idea stage?

The real reason this series sucks is because they dont show her wearing the iconic hot pants.

If the CW and the WB are smart they would pick up this show trow it on the Smallville time slot..This way they could still use the Justice League characters they introduced over the year, as well as Clark Kent/Superman... That what I would do if I was a network executive with half a brain...Never know could turn out to be a good show...

After the epic fail that was seasons 2 -3 of Heros NBC should put the comic books down and step away very slowly . NBC stick to your cop , Dr. , f*ck buddy comedies leave the super hero stuff to FOX and CW. Not that they do any better but less fail then NBC .

@Phurby - add the infrequent appearance here and there of Tom Welling and the new Justice League... not a bad idea.

As for why: 'NBC Explains Why "Wonder Woman" Was Not Picked Up.' --- ahh, because she sucks as a stand-alone character and the idea of doing another Wonder Woman show was stupid from the first meeting. People long forget WW with Lynda Carter sucked every week... but she was HAWT... so it worked for that reason only.

The truth syringe couldn't have helped this shows chances. Oh and wonder woman f*cking blows. That probably didn't help either.

"The world's youngest grandfather" at the bottom the screen. Jake is that you? Are you, your own grandpa?

As for this, JLA movie would be a great way to introduce her and if she's popular enough then try for her own tv series.

This didn't get pulled because of uproar over the pants. NBC probably got off on the fact that fans actually cared enough to bitch about how she looked. The show got the boot because it was a complete pile of sh*t, like every other show that doesn't make it off the ground. Shows like this don't belong on sitcom/drama networks like NBC or CBS (Heroes struggled throughout it's shabby life and No Ordinary Family was cancelled after one season). Smallville however just ended after 10 years, many of which were rocky, but CW held on. Lost is the only exception, but that was essentially a perfect storm from the beginning. If CW and

Because they didn't have the HBO budget to have her wear the iconic blue thong.
