Megan Ellison Buys "The Terminator" RightsPosted: May 13th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Megan Ellison, the daughter of billionaire Oracle founder Larry Ellison, has a production company called Annapurna and she is using her father's money to make sure amazing films get made, including "True Grit," and upcoming "The Wettest County in the World," "Cogan's Trade" and "The Master."
Now comes word that Megan has won an auction for the rights to make at least two more installment in "The Terminator" franchise, which has "Fast Five" director Justin Lin attached to direct and Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star.
No word on how much Megan paid, but it's likely around $20 million. There is no distributor on board, so the property will likely have studios battling out for the right.

I still believe what made Terminator good wasn't simply the presence of Arnold (And if you haven't noticed hes a senior citizen)
Terminator was the best of the series, the third one sucked (and had Arnold) and the second one is kind of overrated. Biehn's performance was good in terminator 1 and the script carried it. Honestly, I do not want a rehashed movie with some punk adolescent John Connor that I've already seen.
Salvation had the right idea but squandered it, and for Christ sake cast someone worthy of leading the human resistance.

I can't remember but the first terminator was not suppose to be a success, and no one had high expectations, which may explain why people think it was so good, now with such high expectations, the new terminator movies have to much to live up to and naturally will be perceived as failures.

She made "True Grit"?
Well, at least she has some credibility. I foresee good things...

Remember McG's rants about what he wanted to do with the Terminator franchise?
The guy was not right in the head. He had a GREAT opportunity with Salvation and he BLEW IT. He's just crazy. Why would anyone hire him to make a movie for them?

Arnold should play the man the terminators were modeled after. Like someone important to the resistance army that the terminators have been keeping alive and hostage and stuff.

I remember seeing an interview with jonathan mostow (T3), in which he said that he wanted to make a terminator film that, as a fan, he would want to see!
HA HA HA!
why the hell didn't he then!

Good news if you want the terminator franchise backed with solid cash (Larry Ellison was once the world's richest man) but no much great news if you have hope of getting back to where the story was with the first two films.
And Terminator 2 isn't over-rated. That's just f*cking stupid and ignorant. At the time, it was the costliest film yet made and featured CGI that was, quite simply, virtually non-existent. It also featured wall-to-wall action, a great story and of course excellent music. Nest thing someone will say is that Shawshank is over-rated.
Want a ridiculously over-rated and inferior film? Watch that bullsh*t known as TDK. That's over-rated. Bleak, dark, pointless and utterly stupid pile of garbage.

Aliens and Terminator are overrated. I watched Aliens again and totally regretted it.

technoreaper- really? wow. I think Aliens is excellent. Say what you will about Cameron, the guy knows how to deliver solid popcorn films consistently and push visuals beyond the envelope. IMHO his movies are always worth the price of a movie ticket.
