"The Dark Knight Rises" Has $250 Million Budget

"The Dark Knight Rises" Has $250 Million BudgetSubmit Comment
It can't be cheap to bring back Christian Bale and director Christopher Nolan for a third installment in the successful "Batman" franchise, which has plenty of other A-list actors.

"Batman Begins" cost $150 million to develop and brought in $372 million. "The Dark Knight" cost $185 million and grossed slightly over $1 billion. LA Times is now reporting that "The Dark Knight Rises" has a budget of $250 million, not counting the marketing costs.

"The Dark Knight" was clearly a bigger film, with more effects and grander stages. With a $250 million budget, there's no telling what amazing visuals Nolan is planning. That's if the entire budget is not simply going to him and his cast.

Does batman have a credit card? If that so, then Holy Deep f*cking pockets batman. But seriously, big budget doesn't always guarantee that the movie will be great. Hell, they should just put that money into my bank account.

God I can only imagine, Nolan is so dependable and after delivering the third highest grossing film of all time and a multi-Oscar nominated psychological thriller that grossed nearly 300 million dollars and surprised the studio, he has reached the level of trust where he can handle this incredible amount of guap. This movie is going to be massive

Jesus Christ Almighty! Nolan is pushing the boundaries with everything. This is going to be one Legendary finale.

I'm pretty sure this extra money is going towards making the entire film IMAX, rather than portions of it.

Well, Inception cast wasn't cheap either with DiCaprio headlining with a 20mil paycheck. Reported budget was between 170 and 185 mil. and still the scale was grand.

$250 mil. Nolan movie - I sure wan't to see that.

Ummm, since Nolan is fan of practical effects and keeps CGI to minimum, especially in Batman - i really want to know on what will he spend budget.

For christ sakes, Green Lantern has budget around 170 mil, and that movie is CGI fest

i guess that 7 months of filming in Imax with all A list casting and an A++list director/productor/scenarist is expensive
NB: the next Jack Sparrow movie is as expensive as TDKR

Nolan's Batman film have never really relied on being "visually stunning". In fact they're all pretty monotone and drained of color visually. He hasn't had much noticeable CGI in the Bat films also so I'm frankly a little worried that these extra dollars may go to making the film something its not. Catwoman and Bain are already a stretch for Nolan's universe, lets not make things worse with heavy CGI effects or (even worse) 3D conversion.

Well, obviously C.Nolan has yet to dissapoint with anything with a huge budget so hopefully, this is looked at as a great thing by all! Look what he did with the budgets for "The Prestige", "Inception", and "The Dark Knight". He doesnt work for the money....He lets the money work efficiently for the story...Not useless and meaningless effects. All these other directors and studios need to take notice of how Mr. Nolan aptly applies the budget to his movies for purpose and content...not for "shock and awe".

I liked the prestige gotta watch it again but that movie he made with Al Pacino and Robin Williams was a turd

I wonder what beloved actor they'll kill this time around to get asses in the seats?

"For christ sakes, Green Lantern has budget around 170 mil, and that movie is CGI fest"

CGI is cheap compared to analog sets, so I'm expecting lots of analog set pieces in expensive-to-shoot places.

"I liked the prestige gotta watch it again but that movie he made with Al Pacino and Robin Williams was a turd"

That was Insomnia, and ironically, it put me to sleep.

"The Dark Knight Rises Movie Budget"

The Dark Knight would have been a great film if they had just stopped when Batman had the caught the Joker. The last 35 minutes sucked because of the Two-Face storyline at the end. Lets hope Nolan doesn't do the same with this one.
