Will Smith in Talks for Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained"

Will Smith in Talks for Quentin TarantinoSubmit Comment
Quentin Tarantino recently handed his script for "Django Unchained" spaghetti Western to The Weinstein Company with plans to begin filming this fall. Now comes word that Will Smith is the frontrunner to star in the film, while Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) are circling supporting roles.

If cast, Smith would play Django, a freed slave who seeks to reunite with his slave wife, a journey that will see him team with a German bounty hunter to take down an evil plantation owner.

Tarantino wrote the bounty hunter part with Waltz in mind. Jackson would play the house slave to the bad guy, Monsieur Calvin Candie. The slave is an expert manipulator and will face off with Django.

'Smith would play Django, a freed slave who seeks to reunite with his slave wife...'

So, no research required on his part as his wife makes him a slave when he's home. I'm surprised she's letting him out of the house to make a movie.

A welcome pairing, but to be honest, I'd much rather see a Tarantino/Denzel movie. Denzel is probably the best actor alive atm, and tarantino an elite director with a talent for conversational dialogue. Denzel would excel with Smith and Jackson

Smith can go bumjack his new pal Biebler. He's career is as dead as Hugh Hefner's face.

Can they replace Will Smith with..Jayden Smith or Justin Beiber..the film will suck balls anyway.

If they want to make it a good movie, cast a white guy in Will's role..if not that is rascism.

Apparently Smith liked the script so much after he paid 10 bucks for it off of a street vendor.

Ranger-

She lets him out to make a movie, which in return adds $25mil to HER bank account.

Then she shackles his balls once again..

Wat the f*ck is wrong with Tarantino considering Will Smith he's the biggest faggot on earth and I don't even consider him black.Does the f*cker want to have this to be another Wild Wild West?

I'm losing respect after Tarantino made that sh*tfest Deathproof, having seen inglorius basterds yet but he sold out when he chose Brad Pitt to star after saying he would put Michael Madsen,Tim Roth and Sly in the movie and never happened. Now he wants to have Alist pricks as the lead.

Great if he's considered his kids can be little slaves as well picking cotton.

Why Jada of all the women??? So is this a spagehtti western or set in Hotlanta,Jawjuh?

Ah yes nothing like adding more fuel to the racism fire

Unfortunatley Oprah wont be able to promote this movie since her show is ending this month

immature move, casting an actor like Smith..especially for a film like this. Denzel Washington would be far more suited to this role. Or Don Cheadle.

Poor Don Cheadle he's the last resort when the rest of the black actors gotten all the good roles.

@The First Rule - add: Hopkins and Penn to you list, yes?

@tt - without a doubt!

@CH - Racism? No... don't care about Will's color. Just talking about he being p*ssy whipped.

@ Ranger -I'd be whipped by Jada, too.

I like how everyone second guesses Inglorious Basterds now, too. Last year at Oscar time, people were ready to kill if it didn't clean house on this site.

And Brad Pitt is ten times the actor Sly is. Just sayin'.

I don't care about Will Smith's personal business. He's like Tom Cruise, he might be annoying and reprehensible in private, but as an actor he isn't that bad. And Waltz NOT playing the villain is a win for me.

Yeah, everyone was talking sh*t about Inglourious Basterds, and praising Sly for "putting together the cast that QT couldn't," even thought Basterds became a different film than he'd originally conceived, and which one became the sh*tty movie, again? Right, Expendables.

And it's not because he's Black, just can't act for toffee.
SACdaddy writes:

Will seems like a bad fit for a QT movie and this subject matter. Of course Denzel would be perfect, but isn't there any up and coming black talent out there to do this so the man can rest for 5 minutes. I'm sure there's some smooth talking British brotha out there dying to take another traditionally American role away from Don Cheedle.
mariachi writes:

Damn people, why so much hate right now? I'm in love with it just because I didn't see the words "based on a graphic novel" anywhere in the article.
The story sounds fresh and original and no matter how much you hate Smith, Tarantino has a solid history of making mediocre actors great in his films. Just chill...
masht7 writes:

I suggest QT cast Idris Elba, at least everyone likes him.

Since when did Django ever become Danny Glover's character from Silverado, disguised as a spiker monkey that resides around house decks ?
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

^ correction : spider, not spiker
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:
on May 8th, 2011 at 6:26:40 PM

Rumor is that Quentin Tarantino wants to eventually direct his remake of the Godfather with Gary Del'Abate, 'Stuttering John' Melendez, 'Crackhead' Bob and Beetlejuice ...

which makes as much since as this sh*t.
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Wonder if they can get a cameo of Uncle Phil and Carlton picking cotton out in the field, then getting whipped by the hired hand ?
