Saoirse Ronan to Star in "Twilight" Author's "Host" FilmPosted: May 3rd, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Almost two years ago, we reported that producers Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz used their own money to acquire film rights to "The Host," the first adult novel written by "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer.
Now comes word that Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) has signed on to star and Andrew Niccol has written the script (Lord of War, The Truman Show). The plan is to sell the film at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. Niccol was previously set to also direct, but that may have changed.
Meyer's novel is a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves "Souls." One such soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.

That's fine by me. I like Saoirse and look forward to anything she can bring to the role.

I think it's actually interesting. While most critics hate on Meyer for the lack of depth in the Twilight books - which is very true, they pretty much have NONE -
The Host is almost the deepest one can go into a mind and personality. In fact, I would say The Host is all about psychology, and then the few but powerful 'action'scenes add to it and make the whole thing stronger.
I felt and still feel very strongly for this book - and I do hope Saoirse will play the role, she has the capacity to play such a character.
