"Scream 5" May Not Happen

"Scream 5" May Not HappenSubmit Comment
When "Scream 4" was announced, the plan was to develop a new trilogy that would remain close to the original three films. The fourth installment recently hit theaters, grossing $18 million. It will definitely make its money back, but Dimension Films were hoping to at least top the opening numbers of the second ($33 million) and third ($35 million) films.

E! Online believes that "Scream 4" failed not because of its quality, but because it's a sequel. "If 'Scream 4' proved anything, it's that horror reboots have a better chance of survival than continuing sagas," said the site. "If there is a 'Scream 5,' expect it to be re-titled 'Scream,' and don't expect David Arquette, Courteney Cox or Neve Campbell to return unless it's in a cameo."

Moviehole reached out to its contact with ties to the studio, who said that "Scream 5" will likely not happen. "The 'Scream' franchise will likely end here, at least for the moment," said the contact, adding that it may have a future as a direct-to-DVD franchise.

"Scream 5" May Not Happen ....

Translation : David Arquette will have to keep those IOUs to the black market to sell all his vital organs off to pay the alimony on time.

Now Courtney Cox can go into porn ... she won't even have to change her last name for a porno name ...

Maybe Dave should coax Scott Caan into doing another wrestling movie ...

I mean, he does have that sh*tcanned, poor-man's Tom Green/Pauley Shore quality ....

So, I guess that's a hint that a reboot is on it's way in a few years, without Wes Craven? Sounds like a terrible idea, and let's face it, the series has run out of steam. Had they used one villain throughout to maintain continuity, without relying on the preposterous idea that people are so easily motivated to don a goofy mask and start slashing, they may have had a chance to reinvest people in the franchise after such a lengthy hiatus.

'...don a goofy mask and start slashing.'

Again... first date sh*t for me.

And stop calling me Don.

What the f*ck would it of been? We had the Sequel Theme with 2, The Trilogy with 3, and Horror Remake-Reboot with 4. Someone's taken their love of beating a dead horse into the ground?

im actually annoyed, they need to end it properly with major deaths from the main 3 characters.

Id be happy with just one more film atleast

I haven't watched Scream 4 yet but some critics like it and call it being like the orginal where fans love it.

So why can't they make Scream 5, just look at Piranha 3DD, it wasn't a big hit but was still a hit with good reviews from critcis and fans.

Now they are making Piranha 3DD with directing John Gulager Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Saw) writing.

Damn at least end the franchise with 5 & 6.
