Tom Cruise is a Disgraced Politician in New FilmSubmit Comment
Deadline has learned that Warner Bros beat out four studios in a bidding war to acquire the pitch by Dan Fogelman for a project that has Tom Cruise attached to star.

Fogelman is the writer of such films as "Tangled," "Bolt," "Fred Claus," and "Cars." His untitled pitch has Cruise playing a politician who gets caught in an affair. With his reputation in tatters, he retreats to his hometown to repair relationships and confront his past.

Fogelman recently sold Fogelman's "Crazy, Stupid, Love," which stars Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling. Cruise, meanwhile, will next star in "Rock of Ages," a big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical.

Is Tom Cruise an interesting actor in this movie ? ...... Every time he's not in an action movie, I swear they are leaking anathesia into the theater.

Yeah really you got me for a moment by the main title in this article but after reading the resume of the guy who wrote the pitch I started to regret for clicking in this one... BTW I passed not interested in this one and the guy who writes stupid comedies....

Damn this photo is at least 15 years old. Somebody at WP hasn't updated their Cruise file since MI1.

So no Les Grossman movie?

So he will play John Edwards?

"Fogelman recently sold Fogelman's "Crazy, Stupid, Love""

Phew, glad he didn't sell anyone else's script. That would've been embarassing.

Isn't 'Disgraced' and 'Politician' in the same sentence redundant?

The guy who's written nothing I want to see has written something else I never want to see, although Cruise, if he signs on, might make this dribbling potboiler more watchable than without him.

So Tom hasn't made a penny in the box offices since the last MI movie. If I was going to cast him in a movie, I would not announce it.

Hell he had to stop his own production company because no one wanted to touch him. He is completely unmarketable any more.
minkowski writes:

He's still a damned good actor, and as much as I loathe the man personally, he has more talent in one toe than half of Hollywood has throughout.

Cruise hasn't done a decent film since Magnolia. Valkyrie could have been great had it starred anyone other than himself.
If he really wants to earn the respect of audiences again, he should shed his goofball cult affiliations and prove that he's strong enough to break away. He would be swimming in sympathy and it'd put a great black eye on the face of Scientology.
