Takers Helmer in Talks to Direct Texas Chainsaw Massacre SequelSubmit Comment
Bloody-Disgusting has learned that John Luessenhop is in talks with Lionsgate to direct "Leatherface 3D," a sequel to the 2003 "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake.

Debra Sullivan (Conspiracy) and Adam Marcus (Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday) have recently turned in their rewrites of Stephen Susco's (Red, The Grudge) script. The story will pick up immediately where Tobe Hooper's original left off before flashing forward 35 years.

Luessenhop doesn't have the biggest resume. His only films have been "Takers," starring Matt Dillon and Hayden Christensen, and "Lockdown," starring Master P.

So is it a sequel to the remake or the original? This article says both.

Yeah, keep churning them out.
There isn't any hope for anything good anyway

Probably the remake. There's nothing worse than a remake of a sequel. Oh, wait there is. A sequel to the remake that is not a remake of a the original sequel to the original.

The guy who wrote a movie starring Master P is writing another TMC (remake) movie ?

Way to inspire f*cking confidence.

Just like Michael Bay's intrepretation of Nightmare on Elm Street.

I rather hollywood support original horror. Or at least horror films that are influenced from the classics and rip the off nicely.
Just look at Adam Green's movies.Sure, they aren't anywhere near perfection but they're still highly entertaining and easier to stomach than the putrid sequels/remakes we always see.

Horror has moved on to a level where if you want a big budget it must be a sequel or remake. If not, go sc*m the bottom of the barrel for a couple millions (scraps in the business) and make your little film, which are heavy in violence and gore (and totally awesome) and most of the time are campy as hell. Yet still fun.

You know - there is a scene in Takers in which Hayden Christianson is in a fight in a trailer.. that was f*cking awesome. One of the only fight scenes in recent memory to really make me think "rawr.. BEAT DOWN!" I don't know how well a Texas chainsaw Massacre will do.. but - I swear if there was an acadamy award for fight scenes.. that was a damn good one.

So it is a reboot?
