First Look at "Shark Night 3D" ThrillerPosted: April 16th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Relativity Media just sent us the first photo from the upcoming "Shark Night 3D," giving us a look at Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left) coming face-to-face with a shark. Check out the photo below.
The story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.
In addition to Paxton, the new movie stars Dustin Milligan (Slither), Chris Carmack ("The OC"), Joel David Moore (Avatar) and Katharine McPhee (The House Bunny). It is directed by David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane) and is set to hit conventional and 3D theaters on September 2nd.

'...unheard of in freshwater lakes.'
Sharks in general yes. But (Bull sharks as I believe BC is correct) sharks have been found as far north as Lake Michigan.
And that color of lipstick is all wrong for that shark.

I'd actually thrilled these low-budget B-movies are finding an audience and continue to get made.
Not every movie needs to be a Shawshank or Gladiator nor have a Dark Knight or Inception budged (it helps mind you)... but this is still fun stuff to watch.

They look the same standard as Deep Blue Sea. Also that girl looks like she's about to get hit by a midget on skis not get mauled by a huge shark.

Interesting observation, the best one in this thread for sure, but you and I know the people watching this sh*t couldn't care less where and what sharks do as long as limbs fly and blood spurts.
You could have transvestite sharks f*cking riding unicycles killing people with rusty fishing nets and people would watch.
Also, the bull/zambezi shark is not a true freshwater shark, and it is found throughout the world even along the Mississippi River.
Furthermore, great white sharks have never been docc*mented in freshwater, as almost all great white shark sightings were that of bull sharks instead, because the two somewhat resemble each other.
Finally, I think a lot of people are getting their facts from Jaws which was inspired by 1916 maneater events in New Jersey, events that certainly inpired Jaws.
In those events, lasting ten days, four people died and one was seriously wounded by sharks. The debate has raged on, but most contend that bullsharks the far more likely culprit

i know a shark's most sensitive area is its nose, so whenever i watch a movie or show on sharks, i'm always wondering if i would be able to punch or kick the nose if i ever encountered a shark. probably not...

Atleast one of those sharks from the Jersey SHark Attacks that inspired the novel Jaws was a Great White caues they caught and found human remains in one.

The speciment reports has since long disappeared adn there's no modern scientific concensus it was a absolutely a great white shark nor whether the material in it's system was from that of a human, nor that if the material was from a human, from what victim it came.
No one is even sure that the shark discovery wasn't a complete hoax.
Furthermore:
Decades later, there is no consensus among researchers over Murphy and Lucas's investigation and findings. Richard G. Fernicola published two studies of the event, and notes that "there are many theories behind the New Jersey attacks," and all are inconclusive. Researchers such as Thomas Helm, Harold W. McCormick, Thomas B. Allen, William Young, Jean Campbell Butler, and Michael Capuzzo generally agree with Murphy and Lucas.
However, the National Geographic Society reported in 2002 that "some experts are suggesting that the great white may not in fact be responsible for many of the attacks pinned on the species. These people say the real culprit behind many of the reported incidents—including the famous 1916 shark attacks in New Jersey that may have served as inspiration for Jaws—may be the lesser known bull shark."
Unless someone can find that great white shark and somehow test it for DNA, matching it to familial members of the victims, no one can say anything with certainty, but I do find it odd to say the least that there's no record or report of where the shark and his last meal went.

Furthermore:
Biologists George A. Llano and Richard Ellis suggest that a bull shark could have been responsible for the Jersey Shore attacks. Bull sharks swim from the ocean into freshwater rivers and streams and have attacked people around the world. In his book Sharks: Attacks on Man (1975), Llano writes,
“One of the most surprising aspects of the Matawan Creek attacks was the distance from the open sea. Elsewhere in the book are accounts of well-doc*mented shark attacks at Ahwaz, Iran, which is 90 miles (140 km) upriver from the sea. It may also be of interest to note that sharks live in Lake Nicaragua, a fresh-water body, and in 1944 there was a bounty offered for dead freshwater sharks, as they had "killed and severely injured lake bathers recently."”
Ellis points out that the great white "is an oceanic species, and Schleisser's shark was caught in the ocean. To find it swimming in a tidal creek is, to say the least, unusual, and may even be impossible. The bull shark, however, is infamous for its freshwater meanderings, as well as for its pugnacious and aggressive nature." He admits that "the bull shark is not a common species in New Jersey waters, but it does occur more frequently than the white."
