Photos: Dinobots to Appear in "Transformers 3"

According to the "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" toy line, the new film will actually have Dinobots, including Tricerado (possibly voiced by Mike Patton) and Rav (the metal pterodactyl). Check out the photos of the toys below.

In the original Transformers cartoon series and comic book, the Dinobots were three robots built on Earth by Autobots Wheeljack and Ratchet, after Ironhide discovered a set of dinosaur bones.

They are the only Autobots that can fly in robot-mode, and they included Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge. As the packaging indicates, the "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Dinobots will have different names.

Great names. Not. sh*tty looking toys. Nothing compares to the original G1 Diaclones or Masterpiece Grimlock.

Actually, there was five. Wheeljack built the first three, including Grimlock, and then constructed two more later on.

In the original Marvel comics, they were an elite combat group from Cybertron.

One of the great Transformer mysteries: where the hell did Snarl go during the 1986 animated film.

I'm happy to be corrected on this, but when ROTF came out, wasn't there a bunch of toys in ROTF packaging that weren't in the film? There was this little red car thing called Dead End that didn't appearing the film and it's quality was noticeably down on the characters that were in the film. I'm pretty sure there was a red Camaro toy they labeled Cliffjumper who didn't appear in the movie either

..also, with joints like that ball & socket, they could be the smaller toys
minkowski writes:

You're not wrong.

First, the toys are smallish, being in those hanging bubble packs, and second, yes, between each film Hasbro gluts the TF market with remolds, recolors and other assorted junk on which they slap the movie-title tag, and for all we know, this is the same situation, although Hasbro rarely if ever releases non-movie TFs during the immediate run-up to the films.

Grimlock better steal this film or else.

So stoked to hear this. Can't have Dinobots without the Grimlock though

The only two things this has going for it is that this is the last one thank god and the other thing is that Mike Patton is in it. And just wondering if they used Lindsay Lohans c*nt for the outerspace scenes, beause Ive heard that its like a black hole....

Im going to show how much of nerd i am but i think it happened like this....in the comics the rocket that brought the transformers to earth millions of years ago crashed during the age of dinos. the ships computer awoke only a few transformers and built them as dinos so they could hide in the enviroment

You guys do know these are repainted figures from a TF line half a decade ago, right? ... In other TF3 news, the identity of the Ferrari robot was confirmed.

Well, Devil's Due's and IDW's Transformer storyline went that route, japaninmotion.

Mehh...Just because they are toys doesn't mean they will be in the movie.

If they are in the movie, then very nice.

Toys look utter sh*t though.

Prefered the original look.

This kind of shows you how little Bay knows about the Transformer series. Where were the Dinobots in the movies? The social dynamics of the Transformer series were incredible. You had Grimlock, the strong yet utterly ignorant leader who thinks he can run the Autobots better than Optimus but is constantly proven wrong; Starscream, who I feel was the inspiration for Dwight Schrute's character on the Office, the wily, ambitious backstabber who also wants to be a leader but just doesn't understand that he never can be one; Shockwave, the soul-less bean counter who has all the figures worked out, but lacks the ability to think beyond that. Granted, there were a lot of characters that had no personality, but some of the storylines in the cartoons and in the comics were great. I read until the end of the first series, the one that had 80 issues.
Baklap writes:

Like Tkemert said, these seem to be just some old repainted toys that have nothing to do with the movie cast.

On a side note, if we can have a space panther in tf2 and a metal bird in tf3, why no dinobots?
Tkemert20 writes:

@Baklap - Seriously! And besides Lazerbeak, there's this Harrier jet that transforms into a gargoyle:

MICHEAL BAY, Y U NO USE DINOBOTS?

Yeah, you're correct. They're repaints of the Dinobot minicons. Somehow Imissed them, but I was never a fan of the ball-socket toys anyway.

I should know better, being the TF fan that I am, but alas, I've failed. I'm going to kill myself now.

"Granted, there were a lot of characters that had no personality, but some of the storylines in the cartoons and in the comics were great. I read until the end of the first series, the one that had 80 issues.'

The series ran 80 issues in the US but continued on in the UK, and not particularly well either.

@minkowski - It's okay, TF fans make mistakes all the time.

Rominus_the_Red writes:

I was hoping the dinobots would remain out of Bay's hands. I mean with Transformers everything I loved as a child was destroyed by this man except Grimlock. I guess he had to ruin everything.

@minkowski - Snarl appears for two scenes in the 86 version. and you only see him for about half a second in each scene. Even as a three year old I realized and couldnt figure out why he was in two clips and then gone the rest of the movie.
