"28 Weeks Later" Helmer to Direct "The Crow" Reboot

"28 Weeks Later" Helmer to Direct "The Crow" RebootSubmit Comment
Back in February, director Stephen Norrington (Blade, Extraordinary Gentlemen) was packaging "The Crow" reboot in order to begin pitching the film to studios and other investors. The goal was to begin filming this summer.

Relativity has now announced that it is moving forward with a reboot of "The Crow," with "28 Weeks Later" helmer Carlos Fresnadillo on board to direct. Shooting is set to begin this fall.

Originally a 1989 comic book miniseries by James O'Barr, "The Crow" spawned a number of graphic sequels, four feature films and a television series.

Fresnadillo's version will focus on Eric Draven (played by Brandon Lee in the 1994 film), while Norrington was planning to use a completely different character.

Hope the lead actor on this one makes it through the production.

Ah, I like this. This movie has gotten one thing going for it.

Even though I like the choice of Fresnadillo, I still don't like the idea. The Crow is perfect on its own. I might be proven wrong, but I hardly think they can surpass the original.

Hollywood need to stop messing with The classics. Brandon Lee is Eric Draven. 'Nuff said.

As Brandon spins in his grave. R.I.P.

I hate to see this...Hopefully they'll do it justice.

FIRE IT UP!!! FIRE IT UP!! FIRE IT UP!!

Also, one of the best soundtracks of all time. IMHO

very true, this is film had one of the best soundtracks out there...
i wonder why you never see any soundtracks coming out like this one had any more?
would be great, if films were treated like events again

Works for me. Never did understand why people worship Brandon Lee so much. He was a pretty sh*tty actor. Amazing that nepotism still works 20 years into the grave.
I'm hyped for this project. I'm a huge fan of the Crow in all his comics. There are plenty of great interpretations left to tell. All it has to do is escape it's own gothiness.

this HAS to be alot better than the 3 and 4 sequels of the movies.

"All it has to do is escape it's own gothiness."

The Crow without it's gothiness would be basically...RoboCop.

The original was good. And this director is okay.
Sleuth1989 writes:

@Rambo
If Shia LeBouf was cast I myself would bring Brandon Lee back to life like in the movie just so that frikkin' piece of no talent won't destroy another franchise and then blame everybody later on to cover his own butt.
Sleuth1989 writes:

And this time, Brandon Lee will hunt the guys who tried to kill his character with crappy actors.
SeWerin writes:

Is this director the f*cker who didn't like and threw away Nick Caves awesome R rated script?! If it is - well f*ck you sir!

And watch The Proposition

@ minkowski

The Crow comics are dark and hellish, but not so much Goth. You have to admit it doesn't matter how much black leather you wear, nobody looks tough fighting to a Cure song.
minkowski writes:

Never read the comics, Rabid, but I can imagine what the first film would look like if you stripped away the gothis ambience. Very drab and fairly generic.

Besides, if I want non-Goth hellish action, there's always End of Days or Constantine.

I hope James Obarr gets his money for this one. They f*cked him over on the last one.
rabid writes:

I think he sold the film rights off, but he's still going to make a killing on the graphic novel reissues, and it will be great advertising for his new series "Sundown".

The trailer for that looks very interesting.
